Middle Software Engineer (Java)

About the Client

A major Brazilian financial institution specializing in investment banking, wealth management, and corporate lending. The customer develops secure digital banking platforms and financial solutions to serve a diverse global client base.

What You’ll Do

Design, develop, maintain, and enhance backend applications using Java.

Build scalable, resilient, and high-performing microservices using Spring Boot and Quarkus.

Support integrations and customizations within the Nasdaq Calypso ecosystem.

Develop event-driven solutions using AWS services and distributed architectures.

Work with SQS, SNS, Lambda, DynamoDB, and API Gateway.

Design and improve observability practices, including logging, metrics, monitoring, and distributed tracing.

Participate in architecture discussions, technical design, code reviews, and engineering decision-making.

Contribute to code quality, automation, continuous improvement, and engineering efficiency initiatives.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile Scrum environment.

Apply AI-enabled development tools where appropriate to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery outcomes.

What You Bring

Proven mid-level professional software engineering experience with a strong backend development focus.

Strong proficiency in Java.

Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Quarkus.

Strong experience designing and developing microservices.

Experience working with distributed and event-driven architectures.

Hands-on AWS experience, including: Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, Amazon DynamoDB, AWS Lambda, Amazon API Gateway.

Experience implementing observability practices, including metrics, logging, monitoring, and tracing.

Experience working within Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum.

Experience using AI-powered development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar engineering assistants.

Nice to have

Experience working with Nasdaq Calypso.

Experience with reactive programming frameworks such as Mutiny or Project Reactor.

Experience supporting financial markets, capital markets, or investment banking applications.

Familiarity with mission-critical trading or financial systems.

Experience working in high-performance engineering environments.
