Lead, Receiving Specialist - Memphis
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are seeking an experienced Lead, Receiving Specialist to oversee inbound receiving operations supporting data center construction and operations in Memphis, TN. In this working-lead role, you will lead a team of Receiving Specialists in the accurate, timely, and damage-free receipt of high-value materials and equipment (including servers, networking gear, power systems, cooling infrastructure, and other critical components). You will combine hands-on execution with team leadership to maintain inventory integrity, resolve discrepancies, and support aggressive project timelines in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead, mentor, and coordinate a team of Receiving Specialists; assign work, provide training, and ensure consistent, high-quality execution of receiving processes
Oversee receipt of all incoming materials and packages; transact receipts in the ERP/WMS system and process hold packages
Create, print, and apply routing labels and required identifiers; maintain accurate records of incoming paperwork
Verify all material received for conformity with accompanying documentation, checking for damage, correct part numbers, and quantity
Interface with carriers, vendors, purchasing, logistics, facilities, and construction/operations teams to resolve receipt, discrepancy, and distribution issues
Coordinate return shipments and reverse logistics
Review stagnant inventory reports and support location accuracy and inventory reconciliation
Operate forklifts and powered industrial equipment in accordance with safety procedures
Drive good housekeeping, 5S, and process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and safety
Document non-conformances and support root-cause and corrective-action processes as needed
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
3+ years of experience in receiving, supply chain, warehouse, or manufacturing environment, including at least 1 year in a lead, senior, or supervisory capacity
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
3+ years of experience in a receiving role, preferably supporting data center, construction, or high-tech operations
Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems and scanning equipment (RF/handheld scanners)
Experience operating a forklift and other powered industrial equipment
Experience handling high-value or sensitive electronics, servers, or critical infrastructure components
Experience with nonconforming material control, discrepancy resolution, and inventory accuracy processes
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft suite proficiency
Demonstrated ability to lead teams, train others, and drive operational improvements
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be open to working either day shift (6:00 AM – 4:00 PM) or night shift (6:00 PM – 4:00 AM), Monday–Friday, with weekends included when needed to support 24/7 project demands; flexibility to cover overtime as required
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
Willingness to work in a warehouse environment that may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and dust
Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures
