Lead Actuary, Enterprise Pricing
About the role
Coalition is looking for an elite, seasoned Actuary to serve as our ultimate technical authority. This high-impact role demands peerless technical mastery, visionary design capabilities, and the executive presence needed to shape Coalition's pricing strategy.
You will be responsible for conceptualizing, engineering, and monitoring world-class pricing solutions and adaptive frameworks that allow us to outpace the competition and dynamic risk landscapes. We’re looking for someone who will roll up sleeves to always push the boundaries, consistently strive for the best data-driven solutions to support our business objectives and ensure our cutting-edge actuarial frameworks translate perfectly into operational tools for underwriters and partners.
Responsibilities
Work closely with the business to develop standardized monitoring dashboards to assess business performance and market trends and provide recommendations on the next best pricing actions
SME to support the creation and maintenance of appropriate pricing risk governance controls
Act as a peer-reviewer for complex pricing initiatives such as new pricing rating structure, capping structure, new risk signals proposals, etc
Responsible for the translation of sophisticated technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders, directly designing the UI/UX frameworks for internal tools to make pricing mechanics clear and actionable.
Responsible for providing actuarial expertise support for the rating plan implementation process, automation & standardization initiatives
Straddle the worlds of insurance, data science, engineering and security experts to shape the most suitable data-driven solutions
Act as an ambassador for the actuarial team, fostering a solutions-driven approach and demonstrating a strong commitment in meeting the needs of our stakeholders
Skills and Qualifications
12+ years of experience in Insurance pricing
FCAS certification preferred
Demonstrated ability to lead complex initiatives
Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science or any other related field
Deep subject matter expertise of actuarial pricing & reserving concepts
Excellent communication skills including ability to convey clear information to manager and team members, and ability to vulgarize complex technical concepts to non-technical audience
Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment, and consistently meet deadlines
Ability to take ambiguous problems and solve them in a structured data-driven way
Ability to think long-term strategically and operationally, striking the right balance between short-term deliveries and long-term business outcomes
Ability to influence partners and build strong relationships, creating win-win situations with them
Ability to develop, assess and monitor numerous business metrics and use the acquired knowledge to optimize our pricing proposals
Bonus Points
Pricing experience in Cyber Insurance
Pricing experience in Large Accounts
Pricing experience in Directors and Officers (D&O) insurance and/or any other relevant commercial pricing lines
Experience working with external regulators
Ability to build UI/UX design
Compensation
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The US base salary for this position ranges from $145,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $200,000/year in our highest geographic market. Consistent with applicable laws, an employee's pay within this range is based on a number of factors, which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, and/or geographic location.
