Junior Software Engineer (NodeJS, React)
You've learned to code. Now it's time to build something that actually matters, with AI as a genuine part of how you work, not a gimmick. Risk Manager is the product that enterprise boards and audit committees rely on for high-stakes decisions, and you'd be the engineer shaping it.
This is a full-stack TypeScript role: React on the frontend, Node.js on the backend, deployed to AWS, where AI-assisted development isn't a future plan, it's how the team ships today. If you want your first (or second) professional role to put you inside a modern, AI-native engineering culture on a live B2B SaaS product, this is it.
Role Overview
You'll be a Software Engineer on the Risk Manager team, contributing to a TypeScript-first, React + Node.js product used by enterprise customers globally. The team ships continuously on AWS using CDK, and AI-native workflows are embedded into every stage of the product lifecycle, from feature design through to code review and testing.
You're expected to use AI tools fluently to accelerate your work, and to read and reason about complex existing codebases confidently.
Here's what you'll do (the important stuff):
Build and ship features end-to-end across the React frontend and Node.js/Fastify backend, using AI tools as a natural part of your workflow
Read, navigate, and extend an existing production codebase, understanding patterns and intent before changing them
Write tests alongside your code: unit, integration, and component tests using Jest and React Testing Library
Participate in code review: give and act on feedback with precision and clarity
Deploy and debug your changes on AWS using CloudWatch logs and CDK infrastructure
Collaborate with product and design to turn requirements into working, tested software
Essentials to get an interview:
Strong code reading ability: you can navigate an unfamiliar codebase, understand intent, and extend it safely
Fluent use of AI coding tools (Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or equivalent) as a day-to-day accelerator, not a crutch
Production-ready TypeScript or JavaScript in a real project or job
Familiarity with React and building UI from component level up
Understanding of REST APIs and how client and server communicate
Experience writing automated tests (Jest, Vitest, or similar)
Comfortable with Git: branching, pull requests, resolving conflicts
Great to have, but we'll get you there:
Experience with AWS (Lambda, SQS, CDK, CloudWatch)
Node.js backend development (Fastify or Express)
SQL and database migrations
Working in a monorepo (Nx, Turborepo, Lerna)
Experience prompting AI tools for test generation, refactoring, or architecture exploration
