Role Summary

The EU BI Head serves as the single owner of all EU data management. This role is responsible for building and maintaining the data infrastructure that fulfills compliance, business, and financial requirements across multiple licensed entities. The position combines hands-on data governance with strategic advisory to management on business risks and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

1. EU Data Ownership & Structure

Act as the sole owner of all EU BI data management across business lines

Design and implement data structures that fulfill compliance, business, and financial reporting requirements

Ensure data coverage spans all EU-licensed entities (MiCAR, EMI, MIFID, and future licenses)

Establish and maintain a unified data architecture that enables consistent cross-entity reporting

2. Reporting & Financial Analysis

Own and deliver all regular regulatory reports with accuracy and timeliness

Produce financial projections and business data analysis for management decision-making

Manage tax reporting data requirements and ensure data readiness for audits

Identify and resolve business data discrepancies; support management and teams in troubleshooting data issues

3. Data Governance & Compliance

Lead data governance framework for EU operations, including data segregation and data protection policies

Ensure full compliance with EU GDPR and DORA requirements

Implement and maintain data classification, access controls, and retention policies

Coordinate with legal and compliance teams on data-related regulatory obligations

4. Risk Alerting & Strategic Advisory

Proactively identify and escalate business risks through data insights

Support management and leadership in taking timely action on risk indicators

Monitor and report on important business impacts and competitor movements

Provide data-driven recommendations to inform strategic decisions

Requirements

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Intelligence, Data Science, Finance, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field

Experience

Proven professional background in Business Intelligence, data processing, financial analysis, or business data analysis

Experience in the financial industry or at large exchanges, with exposure to big data environments

Track record of managing data governance, compliance reporting, or regulatory data submissions

Technical Skills

Strong proficiency with mainstream data analysis and processing tools (SQL, Python/R, BI platforms)

Solid understanding of data architecture and data structure design

Experience with financial data processing and reporting systems

Familiarity with data governance frameworks and EU regulatory standards (GDPR, DORA)

Understanding of data virtualization and structured data processing techniques

Soft Skills & Other

Fluent English (written and spoken)

Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability

Ability to communicate complex data issues to non-technical stakeholders

Proactive, self-driven, and comfortable operating with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience at a crypto exchange, fintech, or licensed financial institution

Experience handling multi-entity or multi-jurisdiction data management

Knowledge of tax reporting requirements in EU jurisdictions

Experience with DORA compliance implementation
