Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring a GEOMAP Data Engineer to join our dynamic Department of the Air Force (DAF) GeoBase team based in San Antonio, Texas. This is an on-site role with a schedule of 4 days working at the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) on Lackland Air Force Base and 1 day working remotely.

This position reports to the Geospatial Systems Team Leader and is responsible for architecting and implementing solutions for the rapidly growing GeoBase program. Roles of the GEOMAP Data Engineer include developing and implementing geospatial capabilities in an enterprise environment, Python scripting in an Esri environment to support process automation, and migrating legacy web applications and deploying them to our new Cloud One (AWS) environment.

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.  Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.

What You Will Do:

As a GEOMAP Data Engineer  at Woolpert, you will:

Develop custom applications, web services and enterprise solutions using Python

Develop tools and scripts to automate complex data processing tasks and routine geoprocessing operations for the Air Force geospatial enterprise system

Design user-friendly interfaces and ensure application performance and quality

Integrate data across applications and conduct code, automation, and dashboard reviews with teammates

Create and manage GEOMAP dashboards and Portal content with enterprise teams

Create, maintain, and improve enterprise geoprocessing services

Troubleshoot and optimize existing applications for improved efficiency

Administer integrations with other systems and manage on-premises data gateways

Support and troubleshoot GIS software, script, and tool performance

Upgrade and migrate existing GIS applications and services to the Cloud One (Amazon Web Services) environment

Utilize the GeoBase Agile framework to enable task visibility and project transparency to AFCEC client:

Use Agile platform (Jira, Confluence) to record all processes and tasks, and manage all projects

What You Will Bring:

U.S. citizenship

Active Secret (or higher) security clearance

Willingness to undergo a background check and drug screening

Current CompTIA Security+ certification

Expert knowledge of Esri ArcGIS software and capabilities:

Expert ArcGIS Pro user

Proficient with Portal for ArcGIS administration

Proficient with Esri Feature Service administration

Proficient creating and modifying Python scripts using ArcPy

Experience with Oracle database and other RDBMS software in cloud environments:

Familiarity with SQL*Plus and PostgreSQL

Experience working and deploying applications in a cloud environment such as AWS

Experience with the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) GIS data standards or other defined spatial data models

Advanced knowledge of geospatial data types

Proficient performing projection and coordinate system transformation processes

Excellent technical writing skills:

Proficient communicating complex technical issues to project and client leadership

Ability to offer constructive feedback and problem solving, as well as clear direction to support goals

Attention to detail - proven experience meeting data quality assurance and accuracy standards

Strong organizational, time management and analytical skills

Ability to work independently, collaboratively as part of a team, and as a member of a large organization

The following experience is favored:

Experience with the DAF GeoBase program

Proficiency with the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE) GIS data standards or experience with other defined spatial data models

Experience using Agile methodologies, preferably Atlassian (Jira, Confluence) software

Experience in enterprise GIS

Experience with DoW geospatial data or systems

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Pay Range

$87,100—$108,900 USD
