Freelance Email Production Specialist

Overview

The Pelago Growth team is looking for a freelancer to help build out and update email templates in Iterable ahead of upcoming campaign launches. This is a short-term engagement to support a known backlog of template work, with potential for additional project-based engagements going forward.

Scope of Work

The freelancer will be responsible for:

Translating Figma mockups into production-ready email templates using the Iterable WYSIWYG builder

Inserting handlebar (personalization) logic into templates at the correct positions — logic will be provided by the Pelago Growth team

Basic template QA — confirming templates render correctly across major email clients, that handlebar logic renders as expected, and flagging any issues before handoff to the Growth team for final review

Ensuring all templates follow email best practices (accessibility, rendering across clients, proper HTML structure, plain-text fallbacks)

What We're Not Looking For

This role does not require email strategy, copywriting, or ESP administration. The Growth team owns logic, messaging, and campaign QA — we need a builder who can also verify their own work.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience building email templates in Iterable (required — please include examples or portfolio)

Fluency translating design from Figma to Iterable

Familiarity with handlebar/merge tag syntax in ESPs

Ability to work from Figma designs with minimal back-and-forth

Desktop → mobile email design translation and optimization

Experience QA-ing email templates across clients (Litmus or equivalent)

Strong attention to detail; templates must be pixel-accurate (to the degree possible within the WYSIWYG builder) and tested

Engagement

Project-based / hourly, remote.

Hours / week: 10 hrs

Compensation: $55-$75/hr DOE

Candidate should be available to start within 2 weeks.

The provided range reflects our US target hourly range for this part-time or contract position. Individual pay within the range will vary based on a variety of factors like role-related experience and education, internal pay equity, and other relevant business factors.
