Reporting directly to the CFO

Requires an experienced finance professional who is  comfortable contributing their insight and knowledge of systems in use to the CFO whist remaining fully engaged in the day to day financial management of the business. And is also able to analyse and articulate what the financial results of the business mean.

This role would suit an accomplished financial controller who is happy to roll up their sleeves and add value across the finance team.

Key responsibilities include:

Monthly and Daily:

Managing the end-to-end month-end close, including the trial balance, journals, P&L review and balance sheet sign off.

Reviewing the consolidated trial balance against prior month, budget and forecast.

Identifying required adjustments and providing clear instructions to the finance team on revenue, direct costs, accruals, prepayments and journals.

Submitting accurate financial information to the CFO within the agreed timetable.

Providing the CFO with commentary on actuals, run rate performance and accounting movements.

Producing timely and accurate monthly management accounts and board reporting packs.

Costing  and Project Analysis

Cashflow input and review

Treasury Activities

Approval of all work produced by the finance team

Supervise members of staff in the finance team, though you will be hands on with workloads on a daily basis and cover for them during periods of absence.

Quarterly:

Management Accounts

Vat Returns

Full year reforecast on a quarterly basis and analysis

Yearly:

Prepare Year End legal entity and consolidated Financial statements for review

Assist and work with the Auditors

Prepare Annual Budget including scenario modelling in excel

Ad hoc Projects

Requested by the CFO as and when required.

About You:

Qualifications required – chartered accountant – ACA as preference -  with significant experience operating in a senior finance position.

You will possess excellent organisational skills, be capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines and demonstrate the ability to work independently, while remaining a collaborative and supportive team player.

You will be a forward thinker excellent communicator, experience of financial reporting, forecasting, balance sheet management, audit processes and project accounting, along with strong communication and management skills.  A proactive approach to problem solving continuous improvement of systems will be essential.

Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central accounting software together with excellent Excel (including the ability to prepare spreadsheet modelling for budgets and forecasts) and Microsoft Office Skills will be highly advantageous.

You will want to work in a small business with a small finance team and be able to take responsibility for a broad range tasks from the detailed to the high level.  Experience in such an environment not essential but helpful (if the person has only worked in Large organisations doing one element of finance they may have too much to learn)
