Financial Analyst Sports
This role sits within the Group Commercial Finance team and gives support to the Sports Commercial Partnerships team, providing financial analysis and support across all finance cycles — planning and budgeting, rolling forecasts, business cases, month-end closing, reporting and variance analysis. It acts as a bridge between Sports, Legal and Finance, safeguarding financial accuracy across multiple markets by rigorously verifying sports data and streaming supplier invoices against commercial agreements. The role drives governance, supplier compliance and alignment with group ERP processes, whilst enabling value delivery through process automation.
What the role involves
Financial Planning, Forecasting & Business Cases
Support annual planning, budgeting and rolling forecast cycles for sports data and streaming, consolidating inputs from commercial and market finance teams.
Deliver variance analysis (actuals vs. budget/forecast), identifying trends and drivers and translating them into clear commentary for management.
Build and maintain financial models and business cases evaluating the P&L impact of strategic and operational initiatives.
Act as the single point of contact for market finance and commercial teams on sports data and streaming cost evolution, supplier KPIs and performance versus budget/forecast.
Month-End Closing & Reporting
Prepare accruals and validate actuals during month-end close, ensuring accurate submissions with market finance and commercial stakeholders.
Own monthly reporting on supplier revenue share, validations and territory/group splits for sports-related commercial activities.
Reconcile supplier invoices against contractual terms and booked actuals, supporting credit note and overpayment claim processing.
Financial Oversight & Invoicing
Validate supplier invoices (revenue share, fixed fees, bonuses, adjustments) against agreed commercial terms, ensuring accurate territory/group splits and correct, timely billing across all group entities.
Monitor invoice approval and payment workflows, resolving process delays and supporting supplier onboarding for Finance.
Commercial & Supplier Alignment
Maintain a central repository of sports supplier contracts, ensuring visibility and alignment across the group.
Track supplier performance and contractual adherence, escalating issues and acting as the primary point of contact for contractual queries.
Support governance by reviewing invoices against contracts and assisting with audit requests and documentation.
Process Efficiency & Collaboration
Drive process automation by identifying manual, repetitive activities and implementing tools and improvements across finance workflows.
Build strong working relationships with product, commercial, market finance and legal teams, and train new joiners on integration flows and financial processes.
