About the team + role
The Credit Cards & Banking team is part of Robinhood’s Money Engineering organization. This team builds the products and systems behind some of Robinhood’s most ambitious consumer experiences, including Robinhood Gold Credit Card, Banking, and the next generation of card and banking products.
This is a high-impact engineering leadership role at the intersection of product innovation, scale, and reliability. Our team owns the full customer experience end to end—from mobile and frontend surfaces to backend systems and the infrastructure that powers them. We work on products used by millions, in a space where execution quality, technical rigor, and customer trust matter deeply.
As an Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a team of engineers building category-defining credit card and banking experiences. You’ll partner closely with product, design, data, compliance, operations, and peer engineering teams to define the roadmap, make sound technical decisions, and deliver exceptional products at scale. You’ll also play a central role in hiring, coaching, and developing a high-performing team.

What you’ll do
Lead, grow, and support a team of software engineers working on Robinhood’s Credit Cards & Banking product area
Set clear direction for the team across execution, technical design, and people development
Partner with product managers, designers, and cross-functional stakeholders to define roadmaps and deliver high-impact customer experiences
Drive the architecture, execution, and operational excellence needed to build reliable, scalable card and banking systems
Guide engineering decisions across product surfaces, backend services, and platform dependencies
Improve team health and effectiveness through strong planning, prioritization, feedback, and career development
Hire exceptional engineers and raise the bar on talent, performance, and engineering craftsmanship
Help the team move quickly while maintaining high standards for quality, reliability, and customer trust
What you bring
8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years of experience managing engineering teams
Experience leading teams that build and ship customer-facing products at scale
Strong technical judgment and the ability to partner closely on architecture, tradeoffs, and execution
Experience working on complex distributed systems, backend services, or full-stack consumer products
A track record of driving cross-functional initiatives from concept through launch
Experience coaching and developing engineers through regular feedback, performance management, and career growth
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical partner
A high bar for execution, product quality, and building strong teams

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.

$230,000—$270,000 USD
Zone 2 (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL)
$203,000—$238,000 USD
Zone 3 (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL)
$180,000—$211,000 USD
