Director, Product Communications
Figma is looking for a Director of Product Communications to help shape the product and technology story for one of the most beloved products in tech. This is a chance to build a new approach to product communications. You will connect earned media with editorial, social, community and events; decide where each story belongs; and lead a growing team responsible for telling Figma’s product story. We are looking for someone who has worked inside a product-led company, brings curiosity and creative judgment and can partner with senior leaders while staying close to the product.
This is a full-time role based in our San Francisco hub, with an expectation to work in the office 2–3 days per week.
What you’ll do at Figma:
Shape a clear narrative for Figma that helps broader audiences understand our products and market position
Build integrated storytelling across earned media, editorial, social, community, podcasts, events, and other relevant channels
Partner closely with Product and Engineering to find and explain meaningful product and technical stories
Lead storytelling for key product moments, connecting launches to a lasting product narrative
Find opportunities for Figma to contribute to conversations about design, technology and AI.
Advise executives and senior partners on product storytelling, audiences, channels, and timing
Collaborate with Product Marketing, Brand, Community, executive communications, and international communications colleagues
Manage and develop a growing product comms and storytelling team
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
Experience leading product communications from inside a product-led organization
A track record of managing people and building or developing high-performing teams
A deep understanding of how stories travel across mediums: earned media, social, editorial and more.
Strong judgment and past experience working with senior leaders, Product, and Engineering partners
While not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
Familiarity with Figma or the design and product development ecosystem; experience adapting stories across cultures and markets; or experience with emerging editorial, creator, and community platforms.
At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
