About the Role

As a Copywriter, you’ll create compelling ideas, stories, and copy for a Portland-based global athletic wear company, helping bring one of the world’s most recognizable consumer brands to life across digital experiences, campaigns, content, social, and commerce.

You’ll work closely with art directors, designers, strategists, and other creatives to turn briefs into ideas and ideas into beautifully crafted work. We are looking for a curious, culturally aware writer who can think conceptually, write with precision and personality, and adapt their voice across different audiences, channels, and moments. You’re excited to contribute ideas, collaborate closely with others, and explore how emerging technology and AI can make the creative process—and the work—better.

Responsibilities:

Develop creative concepts and write clear, engaging, brand-right copy across digital campaigns, websites, e-commerce, social, content, product experiences, presentations, and other consumer touchpoints.

Turn creative briefs, brand strategy, audience insights, and business objectives into compelling ideas, messaging, and stories.

Write across a wide range of formats, including headlines, campaign copy, digital experiences, product storytelling, social content, scripts, calls to action, and longer-form brand narratives.

Partner closely with art directors and designers to develop ideas where copy and visual thinking work together from the beginning.

Adapt voice, tone, and messaging for different audiences, channels, products, and cultural moments while maintaining consistency with the broader brand.

Contribute actively to brainstorms, concept development, creative reviews, and other collaborative working sessions.

Develop multiple creative routes and copy approaches, responding thoughtfully to feedback while continuing to strengthen the idea.

Take ownership of assigned copy projects from initial concept through revisions, production, and final delivery.

Collaborate with strategy, design, UX, production, account, technology, and other disciplines to ensure copy supports the broader consumer experience.

Use AI and emerging creative tools thoughtfully for research, ideation, exploration, iteration, and content development while applying strong editorial and creative judgment to the output.

Present and explain your creative thinking clearly to internal teams and, as appropriate, client stakeholders.

Edit and proofread your own work and the work of others as needed, maintaining a high standard of accuracy, consistency, and craft.

Incorporate feedback from creative leadership and client teams while protecting the clarity and strength of the work.

Manage multiple assignments and deadlines simultaneously, communicating proactively around timing, feedback, and potential roadblocks.

Stay current on advertising, writing, social and digital culture, technology, AI, sport, fashion, entertainment, and emerging creative trends.

Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong command of grammar, voice, tone, structure, and storytelling.

The ability to move comfortably between big-picture concepting and detailed copy execution.

Experience writing for digital-first experiences such as websites, e-commerce, social, mobile, or interactive platforms.

Ability to understand a creative brief quickly and translate strategic and business objectives into engaging consumer-facing ideas and copy.

Strong collaborative instincts and experience partnering closely with art directors, designers, strategists, and other creative disciplines.

Experience using AI tools as part of the creative process for research, ideation, exploration, or iteration, paired with strong judgment around the quality and originality of the output.

Cultural curiosity and an awareness of how language, consumer behavior, digital platforms, and creative trends are evolving.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain quality across multiple projects and deliverables.

Confidence receiving, interpreting, and responding to creative feedback without losing sight of the core idea.

Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.

A collaborative, curious, and low-ego approach to making great work.

Not a must, but a plus:

Experience working with athletic, apparel, footwear, fashion, lifestyle, retail, or other culturally relevant consumer brands.

Experience across product launches, seasonal campaigns, e-commerce, social, or high-volume consumer marketing.

Experience writing scripts for film, video, social, audio, or other storytelling formats.

Familiarity with UX writing or content design for digital products and experiences.

Experience using AI for more advanced creative exploration, prototyping, personalization, or emerging content workflows.

Understanding of SEO and digital performance principles and how they can inform copy without compromising the brand voice.
