The Team You'll Work With
You'll be joining our Carta Law team, specifically within the Contracts - APAC function.
Our Contracts team manages the full lifecycle of commercial contracts for clients – from first
review through to execution. You'll be the direct day-to-day contact for sophisticated
investment fund and asset manager clients, working alongside fellow lawyers and paralegals.
This team delivers high volumes of pre-M&A contract work at speed, supported by AI-
backed tools including Carta's proprietary platform, Ava.

opportunities of tomorrow. As a Freelance Consultant on the Contracts team, you'll work to:
Negotiate and manage high volumes of pre-M&A contracts – including NDAs,
confidentiality agreements, NRLs, joinders, and engagement letters – directly liaising
with counterparties and adhering to agreed turnaround times
Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for clients, building trusted advisor
relationships with sophisticated investment funds and asset managers
Maintain and update client playbooks on an ongoing basis, ensuring consistency and
quality across all contract negotiations
Collaborate with and mentor junior lawyers and paralegals, reviewing their work and
contributing to a high-performing team culture
Contribute to the continuous improvement of Carta's legal technology suite,
identifying ways to innovate using AI-backed tools
About You
About You
Commercially minded and client-focused. You communicate legal advice crisply
and concisely, building strong relationships with sophisticated financial services
clients.
Experienced in transactional law. 6-8+ PQE, with a track record of independently
negotiating pre-M&A contracts (NDAs, NRLs, joinders, engagement letters).
Familiar with financial services. You have experience working with asset managers,
investment banks, or other financial services firms and understand their expectations.
Law Degree and licensed to practice. You are licensed to practice law in any APAC
Jurisdiction
Must be based in APAC time zone, due to our client service needs
Tech-savvy and adaptable. You are comfortable working with and evolving a legal
technology suite (e.g. AI tools, HighQ), and an interest in legal tech or AI is a strong
plus.
A self-starter who owns their work. You thrive in a fast-paced environment,
prioritize effectively, and are always looking for ways to improve and innovate.
Compensation
Compensation for the role will be paid on a fixed per-document basis, details of which will
be discussed during the first screening call with our Talent Team
