Clinical Supervisor, RDN (Part-time)
About the team:
The B2B team operates like a startup within CookUnity — entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and bold in its ambitions. We're building a new category at the intersection of food, healthcare, and outcomes-driven nutrition. Our Healthcare vertical is one of our highest-priority growth areas, and this role sits right at the center of it.
CookUnity is the leading chef-to-consumer platform connecting independent chefs with food lovers across the country. By combining culinary creativity with a powerful technology platform, we're redefining meal delivery and making chef-crafted meals more accessible than ever. Our mission is to empower chefs while delivering an exceptional food experience to customers nationwide.
About the Role:
CookUnity is building a clinical nutrition model to support the delivery of medically tailored meals (MTM) for members living with chronic conditions — primarily diabetes, cancer, weight management with GLP-1s, and cardiovascular disease. We work with a network of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs), including 1099 contractors and subcontracted providers, to deliver nutrition assessments and nutrition education and counseling to members across diverse, medically complex populations.
The RD Supervisor will be the clinical anchor of this model. This is a part-time, fully remote role (~20 hours/week) for a seasoned RDN who brings deep clinical expertise, a passion for population health and food equity, and the judgment to translate evidence-based practice into scalable, culturally responsive care. You will work directly with CookUnity leadership and our two founding RDNs to co-develop the clinical framework, carry a focused direct-care caseload, and ensure every clinician in our network delivers consistent, high-quality care.
What You'll Do
This role ramps in three phases, though phases may overlap depending on contract timelines. The primary focus in the first 90 days is building the clinical model; direct patient care may begin concurrently if active contracts require it. Network supervision scales as the model and tools are in place.
Phase 1 — First 90 Days: Clinical Model Development (Primary Focus)
Develop a framework for building and growing the CookUnity RDN network — defining the clinical competencies, disease-area specializations, and cultural and linguistic attributes required of network providers, and establishing a structured recruitment and vetting process to ensure every RDN added to the network is aligned with the CookUnity model of care.
Co-develop disease-specific nutrition protocols for diabetes, oncology, weight management with GLP-1s, and cardiovascular conditions grounded in current evidence and clinical guidelines (ADA Standards of Care, ASCO, ACC/AHA, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Evidence-Based Practice Guidelines)
Define the nutrition assessment framework — intake tools, flagging criteria, and escalation pathways for medically complex members
Build structured visit frameworks for nutrition education and counseling (initial assessments, follow-up, and group modalities as applicable)
Integrate behavior change methodology — including Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, and SMART goal-setting — into care delivery standards
Establish culturally responsive practice standards to support care delivery across diverse patient communities
Develop clinical documentation standards, quality metrics, and outcome tracking aligned with plan and regulatory requirements
Build and curate a clinical resource library — including condition-specific patient education materials, counseling tools, and handouts — building on the existing nutrition assessment and education templates; the resource library will be the foundation for training and standardizing care delivery across the RDN network
Phase 2 — Direct Patient Care (May Begin Concurrently with Phase 1)
Carry a defined direct-care caseload (target: 8–12 active members) spanning diabetes, cancer, weight management with GLP-1s, and cardiovascular conditions
Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and develop individualized, person-centered care plans that incorporate medically tailored meal planning
Deliver evidence-based nutrition counseling and education using behavior change frameworks
Collaborate with health plan care teams and care coordinators on member care management and referral pathways
Phase 3 — Ongoing: RDN Network Supervision (As Model Matures)
Provide clinical oversight and quality assurance for the CookUnity RDN network; scope of supervision calibrated appropriately for 1099 contractors (clinical quality and protocol fidelity) versus subcontracted providers
Conduct regular chart audits and clinical case reviews to assess documentation quality, protocol adherence, and clinical appropriateness
Facilitate monthly peer review or case consultation sessions with the RDN network
Serve as the primary clinical escalation point for complex, high-acuity, or ethically sensitive cases
Lead onboarding and training of contracted and subcontracted RDNs to the CookUnity clinical model — including use of the standardized nutrition assessment, the nutrition education template, and the clinical resource library — to ensure consistent, model-faithful care delivery across the network
Identify individual and collective training needs; coordinate continuing education or skill-building resources for the network
