Chief of Staff to the CEO
Job Title: Chief of Staff to the CEO
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Location: US – Boston, MA, Houston, TX (Hybrid)
A quick snapshot…
Chief of Staff to the CEO, you’ll be a trusted partner to the CEO and lead the operating rhythm of the Office of the CEO. You’ll translate enterprise strategy into clear priorities, owners, milestones, and measurable outcomes, creating visibility and accountability across Conga’s most important initiatives. Working as a peer partner to the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), you’ll connect decisions, people, and information across functions, so issues are surfaced early, resolved quickly, and commitments move forward with discipline.
Why it’s a big deal…
This role is at the center of helping Conga execute on what matters most. You'll help create focus around our biggest priorities, improve the speed and quality of decision-making, and ensure our most important initiatives deliver results. By building a strong operating rhythm across the CEO, ELT, SLT, Board, and strategic initiative leaders, you'll bring greater visibility, alignment, and accountability to the business, helping us turn strategy into action and action into outcomes.
Here’s what we’re looking for...
Enterprise execution. Own the portfolio and governance of Conga’s strategic priorities, translating direction into clear workstreams, accountable owners, milestones, dependencies, risks, and measurable outcomes.
Executive operating cadence. Design and run an effective cadence for the CEO, ELT, and SLT, including agendas, pre-reads, decision frameworks, action tracking, and rigorous follow-through.
KPI and business review discipline. Strengthen KPI, QBR, and enterprise business-review practices, so leaders have timely visibility into performance, risks, decisions, and required interventions.
Board and executive preparation. Coordinate Board and executive materials, align with contributors and timelines, synthesize complex information into clear narratives, and ensure decisions and commitments are carried through.
Cross-functional leadership. Drive initiatives where accountability spans multiple functions. Clarify ownership, expose gaps or duplication, manage dependencies, and keep teams aligned without creating an additional reporting layer.
Decision-making and escalation. Make day-to-day decisions required to maintain momentum against agreed priorities, while escalating matters that require CEO or ELT judgment with clear options and recommendations.
PMO leadership and alignment. Lead or closely align with the PMO to create a single, disciplined view of enterprise priorities, resource needs, delivery status, and risk.
Trusted partnership. Build strong relationships across the ELT and broader organization, challenge constructively, and partner closely with the CEO’s Executive Assistant and functional leaders so the right people, information, and decisions come together at the right time.
Senior-level experience. Significant experience in strategy, operations, transformation, PMO, or Chief of Staff leadership within a complex software or technology business.
Business and financial acumen. Demonstrated ability to understand operating and financial drivers, evaluate trade-offs, connect metrics to enterprise priorities, and support sound executive decisions.
Executive and Board effectiveness. Experience supporting senior executives and Boards, preparing high-stakes materials, and driving follow-through on enterprise commitments.
Influence without direct authority. A track record of leading enterprise-wide initiatives through credibility, relationships, structured problem-solving, and disciplined execution.
Executive communication. Exceptional ability to synthesize complex information and communicate directly, concisely, and appropriately for executive and Board audiences.
Judgment and discretion. High integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with exceptional discretion.
Leadership approach. Strong executive presence, a bias for action, comfort with ambiguity, organizational discipline, and the confidence to challenge constructively while building trust. You are highly collaborative, low ego, and relentlessly focused on outcomes.
Here’s what will give you an edge…
Private equity experience, including familiarity with value-creation priorities, operating reviews, and investor expectations.
M&A and integration experience, with a track record of aligning teams, operating models, priorities, and accountability through periods of change.
Experience leading or partnering closely with an enterprise PMO in a global SaaS or technology organization.
A record of improving executive operating rhythms, KPI systems, QBRs, or Board processes in a scaling or transforming business.
Demonstrated alignment with the Conga Edge: Own the Outcome, Challenge the Norm, and Champion Each Other.
In the spirit of the Conga Edge, we strive to design easy-to-understand compensation programs that are fair and free from any type of discrimination. In keeping with this approach, we are committed to delivering competitive compensation and benefits packages to our employees worldwide and communicating transparently about the structure of our compensation programs.
