About the role

Coalition is looking for a seasoned actuary with deep reinsurance expertise to join Coalition’s fast growing Coalition Re team. This role owns the full portfolio lifecycle — from pricing development and portfolio analytics to treaty governance and executive communication — and demands an exceptional blend of technical depth, strategic thinking, and leadership. This role also offers the opportunity to work directly alongside the underwriting review process to gain a deeper understanding of the marketplace. Over time, you will take ownership of smaller accounts and working-level broker relationships.

Responsibilities

Set the vision for Coalition Re’s portfolio analytics framework and continuously improve pricing models, methodologies, and processes.

Lead end-to-end pricing for complex reinsurance treaties, from assumption development and cash-flow projection through risk/return optimization.

Lead portfolio profitability reviews and turn analytical findings into actionable underwriting and pricing recommendations.

Establish and maintain pricing risk governance controls, with strong practices for data quality, documentation, and version control.

Partner with underwriters, data scientists, engineers, and security experts to develop scalable, data-driven solutions for reinsurance decision-making.

Communicate portfolio risk and pricing strategy clearly to senior leadership and external partners while building trusted relationships with brokers and cedants.

Skills and Qualifications

15+ years of pricing experience, including at least 6 years in reinsurance.

ACAS or FCAS certification.

Strong knowledge of actuarial pricing, reinsurance treaty structures, cash-flow modeling, and risk/return evaluation.

Experience leading complex initiatives and setting standards for pricing models, methodology, governance, or portfolio analytics.

Ability to structure ambiguous problems, develop data-driven solutions, and balance near-term delivery with long-term business outcomes.

Strong communication and influencing skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Proven ability to build credibility and trust with senior leaders, underwriters, brokers, cedants, and cross-functional partners.

Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in data quality, documentation, metrics, and model version control.

Bonus Points

Pricing experience in cyber insurance or cyber reinsurance.

Experience building and monitoring an advanced pricing or portfolio analytics framework.

Experience working with external regulators, carriers, and reinsurance brokers.

Experience collaborating with data science, engineering, or security teams to develop analytical solutions.
