Technical Engineering Lead
As a Technical Engineering Lead on the DocketOps team, you’ll serve as a hands-on technical leader for the Docket Operations pillar. You’ll own technical direction and architecture across underwriting dashboards, automation frameworks, agentic workflows, and supporting services and integrations.
You’ll partner closely with Product, Design, Operations, staff engineers, and senior engineers to translate complex operational problems into scalable technical solutions. This is an individual contributor leadership role where you’ll remain hands-on in design and implementation while raising the technical bar through architecture, mentorship, design reviews, and engineering standards. You’ll also help evaluate and drive the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-assisted and agentic workflows, where they can meaningfully improve Docket Operations.

Your responsibilities
Own and evolve the technical architecture for Docket Operations, including underwriting dashboards, automation frameworks, agentic workflows, and supporting services and integrations.
Champion a component-driven design system with modular, testable patterns that support A/B testing, feature flagging, and rapid experimentation.
Drive performance optimization across the stack, including backend response times, API efficiency, database query performance, and application performance.
Partner with Design, Product, and Operations to scope initiatives, translate requirements into scalable technical solutions, and optimize operational workflows.
Own complex technical initiatives end-to-end, from problem definition and architecture through implementation, rollout, and production operation.
Translate technical constraints and trade-offs for non-technical stakeholders and use written documentation to drive alignment on architectural decisions.
Drive technical execution by defining milestones, identifying dependencies and risks early, and making pragmatic scope and architecture trade-offs to deliver business outcomes.
Proactively identify technical risks, scalability challenges, and opportunities for architectural improvement.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship:
Mentor engineers on backend best practices, API design, database modeling, system design, and the business context of their work.
Lead technical design and architecture reviews independently and establish standards for code quality, performance, reliability, and testing coverage.
Provide technical direction across projects and help engineers make sound architectural and implementation decisions.
Raise the engineering bar through code reviews, knowledge sharing, documentation, and reusable technical patterns.
Influence technical decisions across the team without relying on formal authority.
