Vast is looking for a Staff Technical Sourcer, reporting to the Manager, Talent Sourcing to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.

You'll shape how Vast finds and attracts the engineers who will design, build, and launch the next generation of human-rated space systems — and you'll raise the bar for how we do it. This role is for a Sourcer who has mastered the craft and is ready to multiply their impact — mentoring peers, building the strategies and tools that make our sourcing function stronger, and solving the hardest talent challenges in one of the most ambitious industries on Earth.

This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.

Responsibilities:

Utilize various sourcing techniques to identify niche technical   backgrounds across multiple departments at Vast

Conduct deep talent mapping, competitive analysis, and workforce intelligence research to uncover high-value talent, anticipate market trends, and inform sourcing strategies for critical and hard-to-fill roles

Utilize advanced sourcing techniques ,including Boolean search, AI-powered talent intelligence platforms, competitive mapping, and non-traditional channels,to identify passive and active candidates with highly specialized technical backgrounds

Create and maintain a pipeline of passive and active niche technical candidates for current and future requisitions

Initiate and engage with potential candidates in creative and new ways, including with messages and emails, sparking their interest in opportunities at Vast

Conduct initial candidate screenings, evaluate technical qualifications, and record detailed interview notes for hiring teams

Educate, coach, and consult hiring managers, including executives, and Recruiting Partners on market realities, sourcing strategy, and best approaches for filling complex roles

Proactively advise recruiting leadership and executives on talent market trends, competitive intelligence, organizational design considerations, and competitive positioning to influence hiring decisions at the leadership level

Take ownership of talent branding activities to enhance the organization’s visibility and appeal to top technical talent

Recommend sourcing and recruiting best practices and help to implement them across the team(s)

Proactively own projects and programs — ranging from recruiting events, executive searches, and sourcing campaigns to process redesigns — that create organizational impact beyond individual requisitions

Minimum Qualifications:

7+ years of technical sourcing or full-cycle recruiting experience, with a demonstrated track record of filling senior, niche, and executive-level engineering roles

Expert-level proficiency in LinkedIn Recruiter, advanced Boolean search, and AI-powered sourcing and talent intelligence platforms (e.g., HireEZ, Seekout, or similar)

Demonstrated ability to source candidates across highly technical disciplines

Proven experience mentoring or informally leading other sourcers or recruiters, with the ability to coach and elevate team performance

Strong data literacy — ability to build, interpret, and present sourcing metrics and market intelligence to Hiring Managers and recruiting leadership

Experience leading or contributing to process improvement initiatives, training programs, or broader recruiting projects beyond individual requisition ownership

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling, personalized candidate outreach and to communicate credibly with technical talent

Proficiency with an ATS (e.g., Greenhouse, Workday, Lever, or similar) and a strong commitment to data integrity

Preferred Skills & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

Thrives in dynamic, high-pressure environments, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and sound judgment amid competing priorities.  Prior experience in the aerospace, defense, space, or advanced technology industry

Experience supporting or leading executive searches

AIRS certification (CDR, CIR, ACIR, or PRC) or equivalent talent sourcing certification

Experience building or participating in employer branding and talent marketing initiatives

Background in organizing recruiting events, sourcing jams, or structured team learning programs

Pay Range: California

$135,300—$192,000 USD
