Staff Software Engineer

The Challenge

We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer with a passion for solving problems to join our agile Product Engineering team at OneTrust. Senior Software Engineers own the delivery of complex features end-to-end and are a go-to technical resource for their immediate team.

Your Mission

Execution & Delivery

Independently own delivery of complex features or components from design through production, requiring evaluation of multiple interacting factors.

Drive system architecture and component-design discussions for your area of ownership.

Collaboration & Influence

Partner closely with Product, UX, and other engineers to shape solutions during planning, not just execution.

Network with senior engineers across the org to align on shared technical decisions.

Stays curious and has the ability to ideate, innovate & improve by identifying patterns that can bring quality and velocity improvements

Quality & Craft

Conduct peer code reviews and help set the quality bar for your team.

Champion testing practices, including exploratory and AI-assisted testing approaches.

Mentorship

Support the ramp-up and growth of Associate and Software Engineers on your team.

You Are

A seasoned, fully-capable engineer who requires minimal day-to-day direction and only needs general guidance on genuinely new assignments. You proactively surface risks and ambiguity rather than waiting to be asked.  You work independently on established types of work, taking ownership from design through delivery with limited need for oversight.  You're not afraid to ask for input mainly when facing unfamiliar or ambiguous problems, where the right approach isn't yet obvious.  Your passionate about flagging risks and open questions during planning or design, before they turn into issues later in the process

Your Experience Includes

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field

8+ years of professional software engineering experience on Core Java, Spring, Spring boot, hibernate, microservices and Kafka messaging.

Demonstrated experience owning complex features end-to-end in either frontend or backend systems

Familiarity with a public cloud provider (Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS)

Experience informally mentoring or supporting the growth of junior engineers is a plus

Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Devin, Windsurf, or similar) in a professional setting, with genuine enthusiasm for applying AI to accelerate and elevate day-to-day engineering work.
