Staff Software Engineer, Client Experience Frameworks
The Role
We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Client Experience Frameworks group. Our team owns the UI platform that every product engineer at Addepar builds with - a design system and component library that must work equally well across multiple frameworks and serve a global product used by thousands of investment professionals.
This isn't a product feature role, instead you'll build the tools, systems, and primitives that make other engineers productive. You'll think deeply about web standards, component architecture, and how to deliver a consistent, performant UI across a diverse and evolving technical stack. You'll own technical direction, drive adoption across the organization, and make pragmatic architecture decisions that balance long-term scalability with real-world constraints.
If you'd rather build the platform than build on it, let's talk.
Addepar takes a market-based approach to pay. A successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on the role, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target base salary for roles in Colorado, California, and New York.
The current range for this role is $150,000 - $234,000 (base salary) + bonus + equity + benefits.
Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Additionally, these ranges reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without requiring current or future visa sponsorship (for example, employment-based visas such as H-1B, F-1/OPT, or similar), and must be authorized to begin work in the U.S. on their first day of employment.
What You’ll Do
Design and build framework-agnostic UI components that serve product teams working across multiple frontend technologies simultaneously
Drive adoption of the design system across the product engineering organization, consulting with teams and unblocking migration efforts
Own end-to-end technical delivery: scoping work with stakeholders, making architecture decisions, and following through to production
Improve developer experience through build tooling, testing infrastructure, documentation, and automation
Make thoughtful decisions about component composition, API design, and long-term maintainability of a system used by 250+ engineers globally
Champion performance, accessibility, and web standards as first-class concerns in everything the team ships
Provide cross-team technical leadership through code review, consulting, and mentorship
Who You Are
You have a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a similar technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
You have at least 5 years of experience as a professional software engineer
You have deep TypeScript expertise and strong opinions about type-safe, maintainable code
You have significant experience with modern UI frameworks (component architecture, reactivity, state management) — and ideally have worked across more than one
You understand the web platform deeply: Web Components, browser APIs, the DOM, and how frameworks abstract over them
You have experience with build systems and bundlers (Webpack, Vite, Rollup, or similar)
You've built or maintained a design system, component library, or shared UI infrastructure used by other engineering teams
You have a track record of influencing technical decisions across teams and managing stakeholders with competing needs
You bring a pragmatic approach to technical debt and tradeoffs — you know when to invest in architecture and when to ship
You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
