About the Product Management Team
The Product Management team at Rubrik drives forward Rubrik's vision, ensuring we continue to deliver on our market-leading platform as we address our customers' most challenging data management and security needs. Within this organization, the Platforms team owns the foundational layers — hardware, virtual on-premises platforms, and APIs — that underpin every product we sell.
About the Role
Rubrik is looking for a strategic, technically deep Staff Product Manager to own Rubrik's virtual offerings — Rubrik Edge and Rubrik Virtual Cluster. These are Rubrik delivered as software, running on infrastructure our customers already operate, deployed today across thousands of sites worldwide.
This is a portfolio role: multiple products, distinct installed bases and buying motions, and the opportunity to shape them into one coherent product line. You will own the strategy and roadmap across the portfolio, the virtualization and storage ecosystems underpinning these products, and the standards by which they are qualified, deployed, and supported.
Virtualization maximizes customer choice in compute and storage, and flexibility trades against control. The more freedom customers have in how they build, the more deliberate we must be about our commitments and how we validate them — and working that trade-off well is the essential challenge of the role.
Responsibilities
Own the strategy, roadmap, and execution for the virtual offerings portfolio, ensuring the products reinforce one another
Own the virtualization platform roadmap — where and how Rubrik's software runs — prioritizing new platforms against customer demand and the engineering investment each one requires
Own the storage ecosystem: qualification standards, partner engagement, and joint go-to-market, so customers can deploy on storage they already own
Define the deployment, qualification, and supportability standards for software-only deployments across customer-owned infrastructure
Own the commercial case for the portfolio, including pricing and positioning, and present it to executive leadership to secure approval and resources
Drive AI into how these products are evaluated, deployed, and operated
Partner with and influence senior cross-functional stakeholders — including Engineering, Alliances, Sales Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and Support — to align vision across business units
Represent the portfolio externally to customers, partners, and the field
Act as a mentor and role model for other Product Managers, driving clarity in the face of ambiguity cross-functionally
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of product management experience, with significant experience in platform or infrastructure product roles
Demonstrated success in owning and managing the strategy and execution of multiple, high-impact products simultaneously
Broad knowledge of the enterprise virtualization landscape and its major vendors and flavors — VMware, Nutanix, Microsoft, Red Hat, Proxmox, and the wider KVM ecosystem. Hands-on product experience across many of them preferred
Working knowledge of Kubernetes and container platforms, and judgment about product form factor — how delivering software as a virtual machine versus a container changes deployment, upgrade, and support. Highly desirable
Working knowledge of enterprise storage across both delivery models — purpose-built shared arrays and software-defined storage — including S3-compatible object interfaces, Object Lock and immutability semantics, and how failure domains and data locality affect application behavior
Experience defining storage qualification standards — performance criteria and conformance testing — rather than maintaining a vendor-by-vendor support list
Experience shipping AI-driven product capabilities, with judgment about where AI meaningfully changes a workflow
Business acumen and the ability to build business cases, communicate effectively with professionally done presentations and write-ups, influence others, and measure success
Ability to lead without authority
BS in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience; MBA or Masters in Engineering preferred
