Pay Range:  $93,574 - $121,646 annual compensation

Sign-On Incentive of: $8,000 ***50% paid after the completion of first pay period, 50% paid after the completion of 6 months of employment. ***

Workdays & Hours: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. Some evening/weekend work required. Hybrid work arrangements may be available, with up to two days per week remote, after completing the initial six-month probationary period.

A Sr. Civil Engineer – Major Roadway Infrastructure position is available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Department Capital Delivery Division. The position will serve in the capacity of a senior project manager to lead teams of engineering consultants, professional engineers and inspectors in the management and execution of complex and dynamic roadway infrastructure improvement projects. These projects are designed by outside consultants and constructed by outside contractors. Project scope is generally multi-lane roadways ranging from half a mile to over 2 miles in length and include intersection improvements, traffic signals, roundabouts, street lighting, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, underground drainage and railroad crossing widening.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a related field

Three (3) years of professional civil engineering experience as a Licensed Professional Engineer, of which two (2) years must relate to civil engineering

Possession of registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer within the State of Texas within six months of employment

Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience managing roadway projects for a public agency

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Proficiency with Adobe Pro, Understanding of the PMBOK, an industry-recognized project management standard, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and geographic information systems (GIS)

Experience with the requirements of federally funded projects

The Sr. Civil Engineer – Major Roadway Infrastructure job responsibilities include:

Working independently to perform project management and professional civil engineering work to deliver multiple infrastructure improvement projects simultaneously while coordinating with a variety of stakeholders to deliver the projects within budget and on schedule within very tight time constraints

Providing direct support to the Engineering Manager and assisting in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, goals and objectives and making recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures

Communicating proactively about projects with City leadership, stakeholders in other City departments, residents of the City of Fort Worth, state and federal agencies

Managing professional services and construction contracts

Reviewing construction drawings and specifications

Performing construction management activities, including processing amendments, change orders and task orders

Reviewing and approving payment requests and performing other tasks as needed while utilizing City of Fort Worth software/systems and processes

Assisting in the development and professional growth of graduate engineers and professional engineers

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
