This person will report into the People Operations Manager and work closely with the broader People team and cross-functional partners in Talent, Finance and the Clinical team. As a People Ops Associate, you'll support the full employee lifecycle for a fast-growing team across all 50 states, from onboarding and leave to compliance and HRIS, and help us move from reactive support to proactively shaping Nourish's talent and culture.

This role is full-time and open to NYC-based or remote candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

Employee support: Be the first point of contact for People Ops questions on leave, payroll, and policies. Work the ticket queue and troubleshoot issues with warmth and speed.

Onboarding and off-boarding: Run both end-to-end, including data entry and fixes, onboarding weeks, answering new hire questions, paperwork, and off-boarding out of systems.

Leave administration: Administer FMLA, parental bonding, personal, and disability/accommodation leaves in partnership with our leave vendor (Sparrow), staying current on state and federal requirements.

HRIS administration: Keep employee records accurate, process role and reporting changes, and pull reports.

Compliance: Pull reports, work with government agencies to meet deadlines, and support compliance work across all 50 states.

Workflow ownership: Take full ownership of recurring workflows and continuously streamline them as we scale.

Discretion: Handle sensitive employee information (compensation, health data, personal situations) with care and confidentiality.

Room to grow: Over time, take on more elevated work such as policy creation, performance review and merit cycle administration, company offsite, and immigration support.

We’d love to hear from you if:

You have 2+ years of experience as a People Ops generalist, ideally in a high-growth startup

You have hands-on experience with onboarding and off-boarding, leave administration (including a basic understanding of FMLA), and HRIS tools

You have working knowledge of employment laws and regulations, ideally across multiple states

You're a self-starter with strong ownership and follow-through: organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle many requests and drive each to resolution

You have high EQ and sound judgment, and you handle sensitive information with discretion

You communicate clearly and empathetically, translating policy into plain language

You're energized by ambiguity and building from 1 to 10 in a fast-changing environment

Bonus: Health-tech experience, ADP experience, leave vendor experience (e.g., Sparrow), or SHRM certification
