JOB ROLE : SENIOR MANAGER, SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

Location: Hyderabad, India (Hybrid)

Department: Product Development

ABOUT GHX

GHX (Global Healthcare Exchange) is a leading healthcare technology company on a mission to simplify the business of healthcare and improve patient outcomes. Founded in 2000, GHX has built the world's largest cloud-based supply chain community connecting healthcare providers, suppliers, distributors, and partners to automate processes, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency. GHX continues to innovate with intelligent automation and AI-driven capabilities across its product portfolio.

ABOUT THE ROLE

GHX is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team that powers intelligent, AI-augmented automation across multiple product lines with document understanding — extracting structured meaning from unstructured documents and data — as one of its core technical problems. This team spans three areas: a platform engineering team (AI, DevOps, Infra, architecture, business continuity, security etc.), a set of product-line delivery teams (each building product-specific business logic, validation, and integrations), and a team building the Human-in-the-Loop (HiTL) application along with reporting/analytics capabilities.

You will lead through team leads or senior engineers rather than running delivery for a single team directly. You will set technical direction for shared platform capabilities that every product-line team depends on, while ensuring each product line independently meets its own functionality, quality, and delivery commitments. You will work directly with business, product, and operations stakeholders across every product line this platform serves, and you will own end-to-end outcomes: people, technical direction, and customer impact across the full teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizational & Engineering Leadership:

• Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team spanning platform engineering, product-line delivery teams, and HiTL/analytics, working through team leads and senior engineers rather than direct, single-team execution.

• Set technical direction for shared platform capabilities (AI/agents, infra, security, cost optimization, eval pipelines) that multiple product-line teams depend on.

• Build and grow leads and senior engineers within each team, developing the next layer of technical leadership, not just individual contributors.

• Own the vendor relationship for external development partners: define interface contracts, hold delivery leads accountable across teams, and resolve cross-team dependencies.

• Establish org-wide engineering culture, standards, and practices that scale consistently across all three streams.

Technical Direction & Architecture:

• Guide architectural and design decisions across product-line teams to ensure consistency, reuse, and alignment with the shared platform.

• Resolve cross-team technical trade-offs — for example, shared platform constraints versus a product line's specific needs.

• Engage hands-on selectively, on foundational platform decisions or critical blockers

• Champion AI-augmented engineering practices (AI-assisted code generation, review, test automation) across all teams, ensuring adoption and responsible use of AI/LLM tooling with appropriate evaluation, monitoring, and human-in-the-loop controls.

Stakeholder & Delivery Management:

• Interface directly with business, product, operations and support stakeholders for each product line to align priorities, resolve conflicts, and ensure each line's functionality, quality, and timelines are independently met.

• Balance platform-level priorities, which are shared across all product lines, against individual product-line delivery commitments.

• Communicate delivery status, risk, and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders at all levels, from individual product owners to senior leadership.

• Own the release process across teams: coordinate QA, product, and stakeholders to ship reliably across multiple concurrent product-line commitments.

Operational Excellence:

• Establish monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability standards that scale across the platform and all product-line teams.

• Ensure robust testing practices (unit, component, integration) are a baseline across every team, not an afterthought.

• Champion CI/CD adoption and optimization across the team.

• Coordinate incident response and on-call coverage across the platform and product-line services.

• Collaborate with the Security team to resolve findings and complete compliance reviews across all teams in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

• 15+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years managing engineering managers, team leads, or senior tech leads — not only individual contributors.

• Demonstrated experience running two-three teams with a shared platform layer and independent delivery teams or pods.

• Proven track record of building and scaling engineering leadership — developing leads and senior engineers, not just growing headcount.

• Experience owning delivery against firm deadlines with external dependencies (vendor teams, APIs, platform dependencies) across multiple concurrent workstreams.

• Strong background in cloud-native, microservices-based architecture on AWS or Azure.

• Experience building document understanding or intelligent document processing systems — classification, extraction, OCR/layout analysis, or structured-data-from-unstructured-input pipelines — at production scale.

• Solid experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into production software — LLM-based pipelines, agentic workflows, or setting up eval pipelines — at a platform level serving multiple consuming teams.

Technical Breadth:

• Backend development: Python/Java, FastAPI.

• Frontend familiarity: Angular/React, JavaScript or TypeScript — enough to review and guide UI engineers.

• Cloud platforms: AWS (Bedrock, Lambda, S3, SQS, ECS/EKS, API Gateway) or equivalent Azure services.

• Databases: MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, or other relational/NoSQL stores.

• CI/CD and infrastructure: GitHub Actions, Bamboo, Terraform, Docker, or similar.

• LLM tooling and frameworks: LangChain, LangGraph, Pydantic, or equivalent orchestration

• Observability: structured logging, distributed tracing, alerting — Datadog, LangSmith, or equivalent.

• Testing: Selenium, Playwright, Postman, or similar automation tools.

• AI-powered development tools: GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus but not required.

LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES

• Sets technical direction where a clear answer doesn't yet exist — comfortable operating in undefined problem spaces (agentic architecture, cost/latency trade-offs, evaluation methodology).

• Leads through leads: develops the layer of technical leadership beneath them rather than relying solely on personal technical authority.

• Represents the team to multiple business/product stakeholders simultaneously, each with independent and sometimes competing priorities.

• Strong communicator across all levels — explains technical trade-offs to engineers and leads, and business risk and roadmap impact to senior stakeholders, with equal clarity.

• Strategic thinker who keeps multi-quarter, cross-team outcomes in focus without losing sight of individual product-line delivery commitments.

• Decisive under ambiguity — gathers the right inputs across teams, makes the call, and owns the outcome.

• High emotional maturity: handles delivery pressure, stakeholder conflict, and cross-team trade-offs with composure and directness.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS

• You have built trust with team leads and engineers across all three teams and understand the platform and product-line systems deeply enough to make sound cross-team technical decisions.

• Delivery is predictable across every product line — stakeholders are not surprised by slippage, and each team ships on its committed roadmap.

• The shared platform (AI/agents, infra, eval pipelines, cost optimization) is visibly maturing and reducing duplicated effort across product-line teams.

• You have a clear view of vendor performance and stakeholder relationships across every product line the team serves.
