Specialist, AFC Advisory & Oversight
Your Mission
As a Specialist, AFC Compliance Advisory & Oversight at Bitpanda, you will play a key role in strengthening and evolving our Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) Compliance framework. You will drive second-line oversight activities through quality assurance, control testing, complex financial crime investigations, and expert advisory, helping ensure our controls remain effective, scalable, and aligned with evolving regulatory expectations.
Working closely with AML Officers, Risk, Product, Operations, Engineering and Data teams, you will identify control gaps, challenge existing processes, investigate complex financial crime risks, and contribute to building a robust AFC framework that supports Bitpanda's continued growth across multiple regulated markets.
What you’ll do
Perform second-line quality assurance and control reviews across AFC processes, assessing whether investigations, decisions, documentation, and escalations meet internal standards and Austrian and German regulatory requirements.
Review Proof of Funds, Source of Funds, transaction monitoring, and suspicious activity cases to ensure that investigations are complete, risk-based, and supported by sufficient evidence, including the quality of any related Suspicious Activity Reports.
Perform enhanced due diligence on complex or high-risk cases involving business customers, legal entities, ownership structures, beneficial owners, and other elevated financial crime risks.
Identify control weaknesses, recurring quality issues, and gaps in operational processes, and support the implementation and follow-up of remediation measures to strengthen the AFC Compliance framework.
Collaborate with Operations, Product, Engineering, Risk, and AML Officers to improve control design, investigation standards, procedural guidance, reporting, and the overall effectiveness of AFC processes.
