About the role

Anthropic is seeking a Corporate Development Sourcing Lead to drive the front-end of our strategic transactions practice, focused on identifying, sourcing, and evaluating acquisition targets, strategic investments, and partnership opportunities. In this role, you will work closely with senior members of Anthropic’s Corporate Development and leadership teams to build a rigorous pipeline of opportunities aligned with our strategic priorities, and develop the analytical frameworks that inform our most important growth decisions.

Key responsibilities

Build and maintain a structured pipeline of potential acquisition targets, strategic investments, and partnership opportunities across Anthropic’s business areas

Partner with product, engineering, research, and go-to-market teams across Anthropic to understand strategic priorities and translate them into sourcing criteria and target profiles

Conduct deep-dive strategic evaluations of target companies, including competitive positioning, technical differentiation, team assessment, and fit with Anthropic’s roadmap

Prepare concise investment memos and strategic briefings that synthesize market context, opportunity rationale, and preliminary valuation perspectives for senior review

Develop and cultivate relationships with founders, investors, and operators across the AI ecosystem to stay close to emerging opportunities

Monitor the competitive landscape and track emerging companies, technologies, and market trends relevant to Anthropic’s strategic priorities across research, products, and infrastructure

Support due diligence and transaction execution by coordinating with legal, finance, and internal subject matter experts

Develop financial models, benchmarking analyses, and valuation frameworks to support deal evaluation and investment decisions

Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing by documenting learnings, market maps, and deal frameworks that improve the broader team’s sourcing and evaluation capabilities

Assist in preparing materials and analyses to support decision-making by senior leadership on strategic transactions

Support the growth of Anthropic's partnership ecosystem, including relationships with cloud providers and enterprise customers

Minimum qualifications

Possess strong technical understanding through either work experience (as a software engineer, product manager, or investor) or educational background (Computer Science degree or equivalent)

Demonstrate exceptional analytical and financial modeling skills

Have exposure to M&A processes, strategic transactions, or partnership development in technology sectors, even if in a supporting capacity

Excel at building relationships and can effectively engage with technical and business stakeholders

Are comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with competing priorities

Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to distill complex information into clear, concise outputs for senior stakeholders

Have a deep interest in AI safety and alignment with Anthropic's mission

Preferred qualifications

Have 6-8 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, venture capital, growth equity, or strategy consulting, ideally with exposure to technology sectors

Have direct experience in AI/ML companies or deep learning research environments

Bring an established network within the AI startup ecosystem and venture capital community

Have experience in strategy consulting, growth equity, or early-stage venture with a focus on technology or AI companies

Possess an MBA or advanced technical degree

Have produced original market maps, competitive landscapes, or sector deep-dives that informed strategic decisions

Demonstrate strong quantitative skills and comfort building financial models or valuation analyses from scratch

Show genuine intellectual curiosity about AI capabilities, safety research, and the competitive dynamics shaping the industry

The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.

For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.

Annual Salary:

$200,000—$265,000 USD
