Software Engineer II

As a Software Engineer on the Financial Core team, you'll play a crucial role in building the essential infrastructure that powers Ripple's global custodian network.
THE WORK:
We are the Financial Core team, the platform layer supporting Ripple's products. We manage vital infrastructure for money flow, including asset transfers across Ripple's global custodian network that covers fiat rails and crypto custody. Our responsibilities include settlement automation and liquidity management across many accounts and banking partners. The technology stack uses Java/Spring Boot on the backend, React/TypeScript for internal tools, and Postgres. These are deployed on Kubernetes with built-in observability and approval processes. We collaborate closely with Product Ops and Product to transform manual financial tasks into dependable, auditable, and automated systems.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Develop and deploy backend services and internal tools that automate settlement, funding, and liquidity management workflows
Work directly with Product Ops and Product to understand manual processes and build software that replaces or accelerates them
Contribute across the stack—REST API handlers, database migrations, and React UI components
Participate in on-call rotation and maintain production reliability for financial systems that move money in real time
Write well-tested, reviewable code and contribute to build discussions with your team and cross-functional partners
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
2-5 years of software engineering experience building and shipping production systems
Backend experience in at least one language—Java, Go, Python, or TypeScript; comfort with object-oriented development and production-grade codebases
Comfortable contributing across the stack (backend APIs + UI components)
Solid grasp of relational databases, REST API development, and basic distributed systems concepts
Able to read, navigate, and add to existing codebases—not only new projects
Clear communicator with non-engineering partners—operations, finance, and product teams are your collaborators
Uses AI tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor, etc.) actively as a core part of writing, reviewing, and debugging code. These tools are not a novelty but a genuine accelerant
Experience with financial systems, payments, or operations automation workflows
Familiarity with Spring Boot, Postgres, React
Experience crafting or deploying agentic systems—closed-loop automation that runs without a human in the critical path (approval workflows, reconciliation pipelines, event-driven monitoring)
For positions that will be based in CA, the annual salary range for this position is below. Actual salaries may vary based on numerous factors including, among other things, an individual applicant’s experience and qualifications for the position. This range does not include equity or additional compensation, such as bonuses or commissions.
CA Annual Base Salary Range
$140,000—$170,000 USD
