Software Engineer, Growth
About the Role
Chime's Growth Engineering team is focused on building product experiences that directly move business metrics and help millions of people achieve financial progress. As a full stack Growth Engineer, you'll work across the stack - React and TypeScript on the front end, Rails and Go services behind it - to build features that drive member growth at Chime. You'll collaborate closely with product, design, data science, marketing, and analytics to experiment rapidly, drive measurable outcomes, and scale impactful solutions. This role is perfect for engineers who thrive in fast-moving environments, want to help define new products or experiments, and are passionate about helping Chime grow faster and smarter.
The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $133,000 and up to $184,000. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
Build and ship growth-focused consumer features end to end - React and TypeScript interfaces, the services and APIs behind them, and the experiments that measure them
Collaborate cross-functionally with mobile, product, design, data science, and marketing teams to identify member pain points and opportunities
Rapidly prototype and launch A/B tests, iterating on ideas that improve activation, conversion, and engagement
Analyze the performance of features post-launch to inform future iterations and growth strategies
Apply a metrics-driven mindset to decision-making and prioritize efforts based on member and business impact
Improve reliability, scalability, and performance across the stack - from page load and funnel conversion on the client to latency and throughput in our services
Contribute to a culture of technical excellence through mentorship, code reviews, and driving best practices
To thrive in this role, you have
2+ years of experience building scalable software in production environments
Proven experience with both a modern front-end framework (React or comparable) and a server-side framework (Ruby on Rails, Go, or comparable)
Experience designing APIs and working with transactional databases and caching, plus client-side state, performance, and component-driven UI
Comfort owning a feature across the full stack, and eagerness to learn the parts you haven't touched yet
A product mindset with a strong bias toward experimentation, iteration, and measuring impact
Exposure to large-scale architecture patterns and an appreciation for clean, maintainable code
