Keeper Security is hiring an experienced SDET Automation Engineer, Vault to develop and execute automated test scripts, enhance test suites, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless user experiences across web applications. This is a 100% remote position, with an opportunity to work a hybrid schedule for candidates based in the El Dorado Hills, CA or Chicago, IL metro area.

About the Job

As a SDET Automation Engineer within Keeper’s Quality Engineering organization, you will develop and execute automated test scripts using the Playwright framework, ensuring seamless functionality for web applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement effective test automation strategies, while maintaining and enhancing existing test suites in alignment with application updates.

This role requires a strong engineering mindset, deep automation expertise, and the ability to influence quality strategy across teams. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, security engineers, SRE, and product teams to deliver high-quality, resilient features for enterprise customers.

Responsibilities

Develop, maintain and execute automated test scripts using Playwright and related frameworks

Design and implement end-to-end automation strategies for Vault web applications and user workflows

Maintain and enhance existing automated test suites as application functionality evolves

Automate manual test scenarios using API-driven and UI-based test workflows

Perform functional, regression, integration, exploratory and cross-browser testing

Validate application behavior across Chrome, Firefox, Safari and other supported environments

Identify, document and track software defects and verify fixes through retesting

Analyze test failures, logs and application behavior to isolate root causes and improve defect quality

Integrate automated tests into CI/CD workflows and help improve release confidence

Participate in code reviews and contribute to test architecture, coding standards and automation best practices

Partner with software engineers to improve testability, automation coverage and overall product quality

Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot or similar platforms to improve test development, debugging, root-cause analysis, documentation and workflow efficiency

Requirements

3+ years of experience in SDET, test automation, software engineering or a related technical testing role

Strong programming or test automation experience using JavaScript/TypeScript & Python

Hands-on experience building and maintaining end-to-end automated tests using Playwright, Cypress or similar frameworks

Strong understanding of test automation design, code quality and maintainable test architecture

Experience testing modern web applications across multiple browsers

Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL or SQL Server

Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated build systems and defect tracking tools

Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across application, API and automation layers

Ability to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Product and QA teams in an Agile development environment

Ability and willingness to use AI-assisted tools effectively to improve automation development, debugging, analysis and documentation

Preferred Qualifications

Experience testing browser extensions or Electron-based desktop applications

Experience with additional testing frameworks such as Jest or RobotJS

Experience testing security-sensitive, identity or cybersecurity products

Familiarity with accessibility, performance or reliability testing

Experience working in fast-paced SaaS environments
