Software Developer Intern

The Software Developer Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the planning, design, development, testing, implementation, and support of software applications and systems. This role will work as part of a project team under the direction of a Manager, or experienced software developer. The intern will have the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects while developing their programming, problem-solving, and software development skills.

Responsibilities

Assist with programming, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of software applications.

Support development of databases, user interfaces, reports, and system integrations.

Work with project teams to understand requirements and support software solutions.

Assist with software, hardware, and network configuration and troubleshooting.

Participate in application testing, implementation, and system startup activities.

Support customer projects and gain exposure to software implementation and support.

Assist with user training and project documentation.

Learn and apply software development practices while working alongside experienced team members.

Maintain confidentiality when working with customer and company information.

Preferred Skills

Programming experience through coursework, projects, or previous internship experience.

Exposure to databases, SQL, user interfaces, or software development tools.

Interest in developing software applications and solving technical problems.

Ability to learn new technologies, applications, and systems.

Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively as part of a project team.

Knowledge & Expertise

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Development, or a related field.

Understanding of fundamental programming concepts and software development practices.

Exposure to software application design, development, testing, and documentation.

Ability to understand technical requirements and apply them to software solutions.

Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

Ability to work with limited supervision while also seeking guidance when needed.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Location

Sioux Falls, SD or Sioux Center, IA. This is an in-person internship.

Travel

Travel may be required to support customer projects, system implementation, or training activities.
