Social Content Strategy Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION
About the Role:
We’re looking for a highly strategic and innovative Social Content Strategy Manager to lead IPSY’s commerce and 360 social strategy. Reporting to the Director of Social and managing two direct reports, this person will own our monthly social planning while leading commerce social initiatives end-to-end. This is a true strategic partner to the Director of Social and cross-functional stakeholders, someone who is a leader in the room, pitches bold ideas fearlessly, builds plans and decks independently, and brings a strong command of content performance reporting and KPIs.
This is a hybrid position based in the Los Angeles, CA area and blending onsite and remote work. Candidates MUST reside in the Los Angeles / Santa Monica area.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Social Strategy & Leadership
Act as a strategic partner to the Director of Social and cross-functional teams including Brand Marketing, Creative, Production, Growth, Brand Partnerships, and Commerce, aligning social strategy to business objectives
Partner closely with the Director to build social and community strategy for 360 marketing initiatives and campaigns
Own the 360 planning process, mapping out months of content in advance in partnership with the broader marketing team
Manage and develop direct reports, providing mentorship and setting a high bar for creative and strategic output
Represent the social team in cross-functional meetings, confidently presenting ideas and points of view
Content & Campaign Planning
Lead the content strategy and planning for marketing campaigns, and build social plans independently, with minimal need for oversight
Partner with the Editorial Lead to identify proactive and reactive content opportunities and drive editorial social strategy
Set the standard for which content formats and hooks drive engagement and deliver against team KPIs
Stay immersed in culture and social trends while bringing original, independent thinking rather than simply following trends
Commerce Social Strategy
Own commerce social strategy across key commerce initiatives, defining priorities for organic social channels
Act as the social lead in cross-functional Commerce meetings, and provide our channel leads with strategic direction and briefs
Define key KPIs for commerce campaigns specific to each social channel and report performance back to the broader team
Launch and lead potential TikTok Shop exploration as a new revenue channel
Performance & Insights
Oversee tracking, analysis, and reporting on KPIs including engagement, traffic, and content performance across the team
Translate performance data into strategic recommendations that guide optimization and inform the broader 360 plan
What We Are Looking For:
Proven experience (5+ years) leading social media strategy at a brand within beauty, fashion, or lifestyle
Deep understanding of TikTok, Instagram, and social content trends, with an ability to spot what's next rather than react to what's already trending
Experience managing and developing direct reports
Strong presentation and communication skills; comfortable speaking up and advocating for ideas in cross-functional and leadership settings
Experience building social strategy decks and content plans independently
Experience partnering with editorial teams on content strategy
Ability to interpret analytics and translate insights into strategy at a team-wide level
Familiarity using analytics tools (such as Dash Social)
Must be based in Santa Monica or Los Angeles, CA
A passion for beauty, with a genuine eye for how storytelling and content translate into brand love
A highly strategic, innovative thinker who isn't afraid to pitch bold ideas
Someone plugged into culture and social trends who thinks independently rather than just following what's trending
A confident, fearless communicator who can represent the team and speak up in meetings
A self-starter and leader who can build strategy and content plans without heavy oversight, while elevating the work of their direct reports
A strong partner to leadership and cross-functional teams alike
Someone who lives and breathes internet culture and social media, with the instincts to know what's coming next
Bonus if You Have:
Experience managing a 360 marketing planning process in partnership with a broader marketing team
Experience with contracts, briefs, or vendor/creator management at scale
Strong video editing and storytelling instincts, with fluency in tools like CapCut or Adobe Suite
Work Authorization:
Must be legally authorized to work full-time in the U.S. without requiring current or future visa sponsorship.
What We Offer:
Competitive base salary & bonus program
Medical, dental & vision insurance
401(k) plan with company match
Paid Time Off
Work from home flexibility
Free IPSY Extra subscription
Learning & development programs
