Shipping Specialist
Key Responsibilities:
1. Regulatory Compliance and Updates
Stay up-to-date with changes in customs laws and regulations, advising internal teams on any impact to operations.
Conduct regular audits of shipping and customs procedures, implementing corrective actions when necessary to maintain compliance.
2. Customs Documentation and Compliance
Perform tariff classification and ensure correct customs documentation for all imports and exports.
Submit necessary import/export permits via TradeNet/Crimsonlogic and liaise with customs brokers to ensure timely and accurate customs clearance.
Manage the application of Strategic Goods permits for dual-use products.
3. Shipment Handling and Packaging
Ensure all incoming and outgoing shipments are properly packaged, labelled, and ready for dispatch according to company and regulatory standards.
Coordinate with warehouse staff to manage the physical handling of goods, ensuring safe and secure packaging of products.
4. Collaboration with Internal and External Teams
Work closely with logistics, finance, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and compliance with customs requirements.
Collaborate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other third-party service providers to ensure accurate and timely processing of shipments.
5. Shipping Tracking and Monitoring
Track all shipments from initiation to delivery, resolving any issues or delays promptly.
Ensure proper record-keeping of shipping documentation and GST permits for monthly submissions and claims.
6. Customs-related Audits and Record Keeping
Maintain accurate and updated records of all customs-related activities and documentation, ensuring proper audit trails.
Perform regular internal audits to identify areas of improvement in customs processes and work on corrective actions.
7. Cost Management
Review of freight cost, packing material cost and all cost related to Logistic
Cost tracking, Uploading and Analysis
Vendor Billing Management
Freight cost uploading into system
Ad-hoc Tasks
Any other tasks or project assigned by superior
Job Requirements:
Degree with major in Supply Chain or other Business-related studies
Having SC401 customs declarant certification is a plus
1-3 years of experience in shipping, logistics, and customs affairs or related fields, fresh graduates are considered.
Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers is preferred.
Experience in handling import/export shipments, packaging, and customs clearance.
Familiarity with TradeNet/Crimsonlogic platforms for permit applications.
Demonstrated strong communication and negotiation skills, with solid data analysis capabilities to support decision-making.
Fluent in English and Mandarin, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-border teams, particularly with stakeholders in China.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with strong capability in data handling, reporting, and presentation.
A collaborative team player with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset; adaptable to dynamic environments and willing to take on additional responsibilities or role rotations.
Open to continuous learning and capable of adopting advanced technologies and practices, including AI, automation, compliance frameworks, and customs regulations.
This role would be fully onsite.
