Job Title: Server Engineer

Reports to (Direct Title): Sr Manager, Infrastructure

Department: IT

Position Summary

The Server Engineer is part of a team that supports IT infrastructure solutions for the global organization. The role works with other IT teams to help maintain the availability, performance, and security of corporate IT systems and services; participates in migrations, upgrades, integrations, and deployments; and provides technical and operational support to team members and stakeholders.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

Support the implementation, maintenance, and operation of infrastructure platforms including physical servers, virtualization, storage, backup, and cloud-hosted services.

Assist with lifecycle management activities for server hardware and infrastructure platforms, including deployment, upgrades, patching, capacity planning, and decommissioning activities.

Support and maintain virtualization platforms including VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V, OpenStack, KVM, or equivalent technologies.

Support enterprise storage solutions including SAN, NAS, replication, and capacity management activities.

Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions to help meet business continuity and data protection objectives.

Maintain and support Windows and Linux server environments, including patching, system maintenance, automation, and operational support.

Monitor infrastructure performance, capacity, availability, and reliability and escalate issues as appropriate.

Support and maintain automation and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using technologies such as Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, Python, or similar tools.

Participate in infrastructure projects including platform deployments, migrations, upgrades, and cloud initiatives.

Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, security, and application teams and contribute to technical documentation and operational procedures.

Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support critical infrastructure operations outside of business hours.

Required Education/Experience & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

2-4 years of experience in enterprise infrastructure, systems engineering, platform engineering, or systems administration within complex IT environments.

Strong experience administering enterprise Windows Server and Linux operating systems.

Hands-on experience with enterprise virtualization technologies including VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V, OpenStack, KVM, or equivalent platforms.

Experience managing enterprise server hardware and data center infrastructure platforms.

Knowledge of enterprise storage technologies including SAN, NAS, replication, capacity planning, and performance optimization.

Experience implementing and administering backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.

Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms and services including AWS and Microsoft Azure.

Experience with automation, scripting, and Infrastructure-as-Code using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar technologies.

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and successfully deliver infrastructure projects in a collaborative team environment.

Physical Requirements

General office environment and responsibilities requiring:

Extensive use of the computer which involves viewing a monitor and keyboarding for most of the workday

Placing and receiving phone calls

Occasionally moving and lifting objects up to 50 pounds

May require up to 10% travel as needed

Pay Range

$66,800—$93,500 CAD
