General Description

The Senior Systems and Network Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and supporting the company’s infrastructure, including servers, cloud services, networks, cybersecurity platforms, and related technologies.

This role is ideal for a technology professional who enjoys both strategic thinking and hands-on execution. The successful candidate will contribute to architecture and solution design while remaining actively involved in implementation, troubleshooting, optimization, and support.

The environment includes business and cloud systems, customer control systems and other industrial software environments, cybersecurity and compliance requirements aligned with frameworks such as NIST and ISO, and customer-facing connectivity solutions such as secure remote access and network tunneling.

Specific Responsibilities

Design, implement, administer, and support server, cloud, virtualization, storage, backup, network, and security infrastructure.

Develop practical, right-sized system and network architectures that balance security, reliability, scalability, cost, and supportability.

Configure and support routing, switching, firewalls, wireless networks, VLANs, VPNs, segmentation, DNS, DHCP, and secure remote access.

Monitor infrastructure performance and availability; troubleshoot complex system, network, and connectivity issues through resolution.

Plan and implement upgrades, patches, migrations, configuration changes, and technology refreshes.

Actively support the protection of sensitive information by implementing and maintaining least-privilege access, system and network segmentation, secure administrative access, logging and monitoring, and other required security controls.

Support hosted customer control systems and other industrial software environments, including secure access, availability, segmentation, backup, and coordination with application and control system specialists.

Design and support secure network tunnels and remote-support connectivity for customer sites, including customer-billable engagements.

Implement and maintain technical controls aligned with company policies and compliance frameworks such as NIST and ISO.

Support vulnerability remediation, system hardening, access reviews, incident response, audit evidence, and continuous control improvement.

Maintain system and network diagrams, standards, procedures, inventories, change records, and recovery documentation.

Manage and test backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities.

Collaborate across security, compliance, applications, data, operational technology, and business teams.

Automate repetitive administration and monitoring activities where practical, serve as an escalation point, and lead infrastructure initiatives from design through operational support.

Occasional travel and participation in after-hours maintenance, incident response, or on-call support may be required based on business and customer needs.

Qualifications

Experience designing, documenting, implementing, and supporting system and network solutions.

Experience with virtualization, backup and recovery, and shared-storage technologies; VMware, Hyper-V, Veeam, and Pure Storage experience is beneficial.

Working knowledge of cybersecurity practices including access management, system hardening, vulnerability management, logging and monitoring, and incident response.

Experience working with formal security policies, documented controls, or compliance frameworks such as NIST or ISO 27001.

Strong troubleshooting, project execution, documentation, communication, customer service, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience.

Preferred Experience/Competencies

Infrastructure supporting industrial automation, operational technology, customer control systems, or other industrial software environments; Emerson DeltaV experience is beneficial.

Hosting development or test environments for customers, partners, or contractors.
