Senior Systems Analyst - Procurement
About the Role, Mission or Department Overview
The Senior System Analyst is an individual contributor within Enterprise Technology responsible for the configuration, release management, and operational support of Zip, our procurement and intake platform. As a Sr. Systems Analyst - Procurement you will report to the Sr. Manager of HRIS. You will partner with multiple teams, including Sourcing, Accounts Payable, Finance, Legal, and Enterprise Applications. Your partnerships will ensure Zip remains stable, well-governed, and aligned with Workday and other SaaS financial applications.
This is a hybrid role based in our New York City headquarters. You can typically expect to come into the office 2 days/week.
Responsibilities:
Manage Zip configuration, including workflows, fields, validations, permissions, and company settings
Manage Zip release cycles (monthly and ad hoc), including reviewing release notes, assessing impact, advising business, coordinating testing, and promoting changes from sandbox to production
Administer user roles and permissions in Zip to ensure appropriate access, segregation of tasks, and compliance with governance and security standards
Partner with Sourcing, Accounts Payable, Finance, and Legal to translate requirements into Zip configuration changes
Evaluate and resolve Zip support requests, defects, and small enhancement
Follow our SDLC and change control procedures to guarantee proper configuration, testing, validation, and deployment
Maintain configuration documentation, process flows, and decision logs for Zip and its integrations (e.g., Workday Financials, Ironclad)
Monitor Zip usage, performance, and data quality, and recommend improvements to workflows, templates, and user experience
Be the internal subject matter expert (SME) for Zip, providing guidance and training to our users and partner teams
Contribute to governance forums and prioritization meetings, helping evaluate and size enhancement requests (S/M/L/XL) for Zip
Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years of experience administering or configuring SaaS procurement or finance applications
3+ years in modern integration patterns (APIs, event-driven architectures)
Hands-on experience managing configuration in a production SaaS environment, including testing, release management, and change control
Familiarity with enterprise ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow/Bytes, JIRA) and structured intake and prioritization processes
Experience translate requirements into structured configuration changes and document decisions
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and data quality
Background in enterprise technology, finance systems, or shared services within a media or similar complex organization
Experience as a consulting with financial systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Workday Financials configuration or integrations related to AP, purchasing, and supplier management

The annual base pay range for this role is between:
$130,000—$145,000 USD
