About the Role

Chime is looking for Senior Staff and Staff Engineers to lead our high impact member Trust and Safety group. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the vision for one of Chime’s foundational pillars.

The Trust and Safety organization is tasked with fueling sustainable growth, protecting our members, and reducing fraud losses and operational costs. You will provide technical and architectural guidance to multiple teams crafting industry defining solutions. These teams are responsible for providing scalable, extensible frameworks to create smooth and streamlined risk experiences across every checkpoint of a member’s experience at Chime. You will work function-wide across Chime’s engineering and cross-functional teams to deliver Trust and Safety’s vision.

In this role, you can expect to

Work with engineering and product leadership to build cross-functional vision

Design and evolve new and existing capabilities

Deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance infrastructure and APIs

Identify and help resolve bottlenecks in our software development process and infrastructure

Write and guide engineers to produce elegant, scalable code, with an owner's mindset

Serve as a mentor, leading others in designing elegant code and architecture that scales to meet Chime's growing needs

As needed, play the role of Team Lead during the course of a project

Ensure that technical decisions support our quality, performance, scalability, reliability, availability, and security goals

Contribute to the organization-level discovery, vetting and decision-making on critical architecture and technology, bringing your domain expertise into larger conversations

To thrive in this role, you have

12+ years of experience in software engineering

Previously built and evolved high-scale back-end solutions

Passion and previous experience in building end to end member facing features and systems

Strong competency in distributed systems, scalable and extensible platforms high availability design

Experience with leading and empowering multiple teams

Language and technology stack-agnostic mindset

Ability to work in agile setting

Below is the base salary offered for this role and level of experience. Full-time employees may also be eligible for bonus(es), competitive equity, and benefits. For commissioned roles, the base salary listed in this job description does not include incentive/variable pay. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

$223,000—$373,000 USD
