Senior/Staff Software Engineer - Commerce Platform
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Commerce Platform is one of the most consequential systems at Suno - it's where every product decision about value becomes real. We're looking for a detail-obsessed engineer to own our commerce platform end-to-end: the billing, subscription, payment, and metering services that power how Suno makes money, and the surrounding systems that keep it correct - entitlements, involuntary churn recovery, fraud prevention, and accounting. You'll set the technical direction, be a key voice in how we think about the future of our revenue model, and build infrastructure that has to be exactly right at scale.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own Suno's commerce platform across web and mobile, including our vendor integrations and the core billing, subscription, payment, and metering services.
- Build and evolve subscription and entitlement management - the source of truth for what every user has paid for and what they get access to.
- Own payment methods and payment processing, expanding how users around the world can pay for Suno.
- Recover revenue that would otherwise be lost: own involuntary churn (failed payments, dunning, recovery flows) and fraud prevention.
- Build the financial correctness layer - accounting and reconciliation systems where the money has to be exactly right.
- Lead the evolution of our billing architecture - including an in-progress migration to a modern ledger-based model - making it more maintainable and easier to reason about as the business grows.
- Participate in product and strategy discussions about how Suno monetizes, bringing technical judgment to decisions that have direct revenue impact.
- Build tools, systems, and interfaces that give the broader team more leverage to build products and perform analyses.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally building systems where being wrong has immediate real-world consequences - payments, financial infrastructure, distributed systems, or similar.
- A natural instinct to think about failure modes first: what happens if this event arrives twice, out of order, or not at all?
- Strong product sense alongside technical depth - you care about what users experience, not just what the code does.
- A high bar for correctness that you hold yourself and others to without being told.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Stripe, RevenueCat, or payments/fraud systems is a plus.
- A love for music is a huge plus.
Additional Notes: Applicants must be eligible to work in the US.
Location: This is an onsite role in our NYC or Cambridge, MA office.
