Role Overview
As a Senior Staff Product Manager, AI Software Factory, you set the product strategy and lead execution for the shared systems that help Housecall Pro teams build, test, release, and operate software with AI. Your direct customers are product and engineering teams, and your work changes how software is built across HCP. You work alongside Engineering to identify the highest-value constraints in the software delivery system, decide which agentic capabilities to test, scale, standardize, or retire, and improve speed and quality without lowering the bar for reliability, security, or accountability.
You thrive in a fast-moving technical space. You bring hands-on experience building AI tools for engineers or internal users and a clear point of view on where agents add value, what context and tools they need, how their work should be evaluated, and where human judgment remains essential. You test ideas in real workflows, learn from evidence, and adapt as models, tools, and development practices change. You lead through influence across Product, Engineering, Security, and other teams, even when those teams do not report to you.
Our team is passionate, empathetic, hard working, and above all else focused on improving the lives of our service professionals (our Pros). Our success is their success
What you do each day:
Set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the AI Software Factory, including what to test, scale, standardize, retire, or not build
Understand needs across product and engineering teams, separate shared problems from individual requests, and prioritize the work that will create the most leverage across HCP
Work with Engineering to shape product and technical direction, resolve complex tradeoffs, and align Product, Engineering, Security, and other teams around clear decisions
Define meaningful measures for software delivery speed, quality, reliability, cost, and adoption, and connect those measures to customer and business outcomes
Drive adoption of new tools and ways of working across teams, using feedback and evidence to improve the platform and change direction when needed
Qualifications:
8+ years of product management experience, with a proven track record of setting strategy and delivering complex technical or platform products across multiple teams
Proven experience setting direction for a developer or internal platform and driving adoption across multiple teams
Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-team work and make decisions without relying on formal authority
Hands-on experience building and shipping AI or agentic tools for engineers or internal users, including designing and running evaluations of agent behavior and work quality
Technical fluency across APIs, architecture, data, reliability, security, and technical tradeoffs, with the ability to engage credibly with senior engineers
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
What will help you succeed:
A background in software engineering is highly preferred
Strong platform judgment, including knowing where consistency creates value, where flexibility matters, and when not to build a platform solution
Curiosity, urgency, and a track record of learning quickly in unfamiliar or fast-changing areas
Ability to move between long-term strategy and the technical details required to make strong product decisions
A multi-dimensional background with a breadth of cross-functional interests or depth of specialized mastery
Personal resilience to learn from scratch, and successfully thrive in ambiguity
