Job Description

Okta is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build, style, and maintain our documentation site’s frontend, infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and publishing processes. You will manage and scale our product and developer documentation platforms and support internal customers such as the Information Development technical writers and other Builder Experience teams who contribute to Okta’s product content. You will also implement frontend changes to improve the user experience, appearance, and functionality on the help.okta.com and developer.okta.com sites.

Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

Work Mode: Hybrid (minimum of 2 days onsite per week)

Key Responsibilities

A Senior Software Engineer at Okta is responsible for building, maintaining, and improving the infrastructure for technical documentation sites. This includes:

Building, maintaining, and improving the documentation site’s infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes.

Supporting internal customers such as the Builder Experience teams with their structured authoring platforms and automation. Ensuring the technical writers are not blocked in their day-to-day work.

Providing cross-regional support to various Builder Experience teams.

Collaborating with DocTool Leads to maintain and improve the user experience for Okta's documentation sites, supporting content structure, and versioning for multiple products and global audiences.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities

The ideal candidate should have at least 4+ years of development experience and proficiency in the following skills:

Programming languages: JavaScript/TypeScript and Python

Technologies: OpenAPI and the JAMstack architecture

Frameworks: DITA, Redocly, VuePress, or any similar documentation framework

CI/CD tools: Experience with tools like GitHub, CircleCI, Vercel, and Artifactory

AI Tools: Hands-on experience with Generative AI tools to assist with coding, workflow automation, and tooling enhancements

Good verbal communication skills

A team player who enjoys collaborating with members in various teams

Experience working in an agile environment

Desired knowledge

Experience working with technical writers and knowledge of the documentation process

Localization experience

Education

A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience, is required for this role.
