In this role, you’ll contribute to Talent Matching, Talent Rediscovery, and related employer-facing experiences. You’ll work across the stack to build product capabilities and the search and matching systems behind them, with a particular focus on OpenSearch or Elasticsearch and practical applications of AI to matching, ranking, and search relevance.

Who will love this job

A mentor – you’re passionate about guiding and developing your peers, sharing your knowledge, leading projects, and contributing to the team’s collective success

A doer – you’re driven to get things done, act with agility, and adapt seamlessly to dynamic environments

A pragmatic architect – you evaluate trade-offs between performance, relevance, maintainability, and cost, choosing patterns that simplify complexity for the long term

A problem solver – you think about the bigger picture, connect the dots, and efficiently resolve technical and product challenges

An excellent communicator – you explain technical processes clearly, including to non-engineers, and work well with Product, Design, Data, and Applied ML partners

A search and matching builder – you enjoy turning complex retrieval and ranking problems into intuitive, trustworthy product experience

What you’ll do

Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Designers to define requirements and drive product development from conception to launch

Design and ship search-backed capabilities using OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, including indexing strategies, query design, relevance tuning, ranking improvements, and semantic retrieval patterns

Develop matching systems that combine keyword, structured, and semantic signals, applying AI/ML techniques such as embeddings, similarity search, classification, and ranking to improve match quality and consistency

Partner with Applied ML and cross-functional engineering teams to evaluate trade-offs across relevance, latency, reliability, infrastructure cost, and user trust

Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, conduct thorough code reviews, and contribute to team engineering practices

You should have

5+ years of experience writing production code

Deep experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch in production, including indexing, query design, relevance tuning, and performance trade-offs

Experience with Ruby, C#, Java, or Python; Ruby on Rails preferred

Strong JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals, including React

Full-stack experience across backend systems, APIs, data modeling, and modern frontend development

Experience building search, ranking, recommendation, or matching systems

Practical experience applying AI or ML techniques in production, such as embeddings, semantic search, classification, or ranking

Experience collaborating with Product and Design in ambiguous, user-facing problem spaces

Experience with analytical databases, a plus
