Senior Software Engineer
Greenhouse is searching for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team!
As a member of the Greenhouse Engineering team, you will actively contribute to a swift software release cycle building products that make hiring work for everyone! You'll join as a Senior Software Engineer to own high complexity, often ambiguous projects end to end. Partnering closely with your manager, product, and design, you’ll provide technical guidance and mentorship across the team and bring real fluency building with AI/agentic tools.

What you’ll do
Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Designers to define requirements and drive product development from conception to launch
Lead the planning and execution of projects within your triad (Product Manager, Designer, and Engineering Lead), effectively scoping and prioritizing work
Contribute across the entire software development lifecycle, including implementation, delivery, technical project/product management, and production support
Develop clean, efficient, maintainable, and scalable production code for our core services
Work cross-functionally with engineering teams to deliver new features and enhancements
Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering their growth and development
Actively participate in and lead team meetings, such as stand-ups, grooming sessions, and retrospectives, to ensure effective communication and progress
Conduct thorough code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers to uphold code quality and best practices
Maintain and improve code quality through comprehensive testing and debugging
Add agentic capabilities to the hiring pipeline
You should have
5+ years experience in contributing production code (required)
Experience leading or owning projects and driving them to completion (required)
Experience with Ruby, C#, Java, or Python (Ruby preferred)
Direct experience with AI and agentic software development (Claude code, Codex, etc)
Strong understanding of Javascript or Typescript fundamentals, including React
Experience working in the full stack
Strong understanding of architectural patterns
REST/web development experience
Experience partnering closely with Product and Design partners
Experience with Rails, preferred
Deep experience with integrations, a plus

The national pay range for this role is $129,000 - $164,500 CAD. Individual compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications. Certain roles may be eligible for additional compensation, including stock option awards, bonuses, and merit increases. Additionally, certain roles have the opportunity to receive sales commissions that are based on the terms of the sales commission plan applicable to the role.
