About the Role:

The defense and intelligence pillar is looking for a full-stack software engineer to build robust systems and integrate with our key federal partners. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional internal teams to develop our next-generation global monitoring application that powers Planet’s future growth. Your work will be highly visible, directly enhancing how users gain rapid access to unprecedented geospatial datasets. You will champion scalable architecture across backend services, frontend applications, and data solutions. Ideal candidates are innovative problem solvers eager to push the boundaries of satellite data accessibility.

This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States. If located near an office, you are expected to work from that office 3 days per week.

Impact You'll Own:

Participate in the entire engineering lifecycle, from concept to implementation

Ownership of the quality and availability of mission systems

Contribute to the improvement of our architecture, infrastructure, and processes

Spearhead the design and development of scalable backend services and frontend applications

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate complex customer requirements into seamless features

What You Bring:

6-8 years industry experience

Fluency in Golang, Python, & Postgresql or related technologies

Full stack application development experience (Database, Services, Web)

Experience building frontend applications in React

Experience with maintaining infrastructure-in-code

Experience with logging, alerting, and monitoring tools to support system quality

What Makes You Stand Out:

Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adjust on the fly to customer needs

Experience with infrastructure such as AWS and GCP and infrastructure-as-code

Experience building systems with many integrations

Experience with geospatial technologies and data

Compensation:

The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is listed below. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location. The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
