What you'll do at Jamf:
At Jamf, we empower people to be their best selves and do their best work.
Most engineers ship a feature that one team uses. On PandoCats, you build the foundation that every Jamf product team stands on.
PandoCats is the platform team behind Jamf’s frontend. We build the shared frontend platform code that all our products rely on, the design system that product teams use to build their interfaces, and customer-facing UI used by small and medium businesses.
We’re adding a Senior Software Engineer who will own our backend. We build backend components that store customer data and support our customer-facing UI, so we don’t have to hand that work to other teams. You’ll be responsible for the backend, and you’ll work on the frontend as well.
The team is experienced and collaborative, and it works with a lot of trust and autonomy. If you want to deepen your architectural thinking and grow toward cross-org technical leadership, this is a good place to do it.
What you can expect to do in this role:
Own the backend services that support our frontend products: build them, deploy them and maintain them over time.
Write tests, add observability and set up alerting so the services stay reliable and easy to maintain.
Build and extend micro frontends, shared platform code and customer-facing features in TypeScript and React (some Vue).
Contribute to the shared frontend platform code and design system that other Jamf teams build on.
Break down customer problems into work you and the team can deliver, and produce designs for new and existing features.
Use your knowledge of Engineering best practices to ask the right questions, solve problems and build great software with a high level of quality
Explain technical concepts to Product, Support, Technical Communication and Cloud colleagues.
Use AI tools such as Claude Code in your daily work.
Mentor teammates and share your expertise with the broader engineering organization.
What we are looking for:
Required skills and experience:
5+ years of experience building enterprise-grade software, with a solid grasp of testing and quality assurance.
Senior-level backend ownership. You’ve built, deployed, monitored, and maintained services for the long term, and you have a clear view of how it should be done.
Hands-on experience with backend technologies, preferably Java.
Strong frontend skills in TypeScript or JavaScript with React. Vue experience is also welcome.
Experience building frameworks or libraries that other teams use: a design system, CI/CD pipelines, an observability stack, authorization or shared state between services.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with colleagues at every level.
Experience working in an agile team.
Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor or Claude Code.
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. We also consider a combination of relevant experience and education.
Preferred skills and experience:
Experience with micro frontends. This is rare, and we value it highly.
Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka, Pulsar or RabbitMQ.
