Senior Python Developer
About the role
A highly skilled and experienced Senior Python Developer is needed to lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable, high-performance software solutions across our enterprise platforms. This role demands deep expertise in Python programming, system architecture, and integration within complex business environments.
As a senior member of the development team, this role requires collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders—including data engineers, DevOps, product managers, and business analysts—to deliver robust, secure, and maintainable applications that drive operational excellence and digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain Python applications for financial data processing, modelling, and reporting.
Design scalable microservices and APIs for integration with trading platforms, market data providers, and internal systems.
Collaborate with finance and risk teams to automate workflows and enhance data accuracy and timeliness.
Optimize performance of real-time and batch data pipelines handling large datasets.
Ensure systems meet regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., MiFID II, Basel III, SOX).
Lead code reviews, mentor junior developers, and promote best practices in secure and maintainable coding.
Work with DevOps to deploy solutions in cloud or hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Required Qualifications:
Must‑have:
5+ years of Python development experience in enterprise or financial environments.
Strong understanding of financial instruments (equities, derivatives, fixed income) and market data.
Experience with financial libraries (e.g., NumPy, Pydantic, PyTorch, Pandas, PySpark, QuantLib).
Familiarity with trading systems, risk engines, or portfolio management platforms.
Proficiency in cloud technologies, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Nice‑to‑have:
Experience in the UK financial sector or financial sector in general. Knowing their strict compliance, risk, and security rules gives you a major edge.
