As a Senior Product Designer, Risk Modeling at Vanta, you will help define how organizations identify, assess, prioritize, treat, and communicate risk with clarity and confidence.

The Risk Modeling team builds product experiences that help security, compliance, and business leaders manage and model risk as an ongoing practice. The team brings together risk registers, risk scenarios, configurable scoring models, controls, owners, treatment plans, residual risk, approvals, and reporting. Our goal is to turn complex, high-stakes risk workflows that are often managed through fragmented spreadsheets and manual processes into clear, connected, and actionable experiences.

As a Senior Product Designer on this team, you will shape both foundational risk-management capabilities and the customer-facing workflows built on top of them. You will partner with Product, Engineering, Research, Data, Customer Success, Solutions, and risk subject-matter experts to turn ambiguous problems into thoughtful, scalable, and understandable experiences. The patterns you establish will influence product teams across Vanta.

What you’ll do as a Senior Product Designer, Risk Modeling at Vanta:

- Lead end-to-end design for Risk Modeling projects, from problem framing and discovery through launch, measurement, and iteration.

- Make complex risk concepts and workflows understandable, including risk registers, risk scenarios, scoring models, treatment plans, approvals, and residual risk.

- Design experiences that help risk managers and business stakeholders move from documenting a risk to modeling its future impact.

- Create patterns for reviewing, approving, updating, and auditing risk decisions while preserving the context and rationale behind those decisions.

- Design information architecture and interaction models for configurable, data-dense workflows across risk registers, detail views, dashboards, reports, and related product surfaces.

- Establish product patterns and principles for trustworthy risk management, including transparency, permissions, auditability, explainability, and clear handling of uncertainty.

- Partner with Product and Engineering to evaluate tradeoffs, prioritize opportunities, and decide when configuration, automation, or guided workflows best serve the customer problem.

- Conduct customer discovery and usability testing with risk managers, security and compliance leaders, risk owners, business stakeholders, and occasional contributors.

- Translate customer insights, product requirements, domain complexity, technical constraints, and data considerations into clear design direction.

- Collaborate with Design Systems and product designers across Vanta to turn emerging risk-management patterns into reusable, high-quality experiences.

- Create design briefs, domain models, workflow maps, prototypes, specifications, and other artifacts that bring clarity to complex problems.

- Communicate design rationale, tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations clearly to cross-functional partners and leadership.

- Contribute to design critique and help raise the quality bar for interaction design, information architecture, UX writing, data visualization, and visual craft.

- Help shape how Vanta makes complex risk information clear, actionable, and appropriately configurable across the product.

- Identify opportunities to improve how the design organization and product teams work together.

How to be successful in this role:

- 7+ years of product design experience, with depth in B2B SaaS, complex workflows, enterprise software, or other sophisticated products.

- Experience designing enterprise, admin, risk, security, compliance, finance, or other high-stakes products with multiple user types and complex decision-making.

- Experience designing configurable systems with multiple personas, permissions, workflows, and interconnected objects.

- Strong systems thinking across interconnected objects, such as risks, controls, assets, vendors, owners, treatments, and reports.

- Experience designing data-dense interfaces, tables, reporting, information architecture, or other experiences that help users understand complex information.

- Strong product thinking and discovery skills, including the ability to frame ambiguous problems, learn complex domains, and identify the right questions to answer.

- High craft in interaction design, information architecture, UX writing, data visualization, and visual design.

- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly with Product, Engineering, Research, Data, customer-facing teams, and domain experts.

- A thoughtful approach to designing for permissions, sensitive information, auditability, explainability, uncertainty, and recovery from incorrect or incomplete inputs.

- A portfolio that demonstrates shipped work, complex workflows, meaningful tradeoffs, and learning from customers or users.

- Ability to move fluidly between domain and systems-level thinking and detailed interaction design.

- Clear communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional partners without formal authority.

- Curiosity, sound judgment, and comfort working in complex product spaces where customer needs, domain models, and best practices are still taking shape.

- Uses modern tools, including AI where helpful, to amplify their skills and strengthen their outcomes, while exercising sound judgment and maintaining a high quality bar.

- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future employer sponsorship.
