Role Overview

As the Senior Manager, QA Engineering, you lead the execution of quality engineering strategies that strengthen the reliability, performance, and scalability of HCP’s software products. You serve as a trusted partner to the Director of Quality and act as a senior representative of the Quality organization when needed. You own key decisions related to test automation strategy, tooling, and quality standards, and help lead the evolution toward a shared quality ownership model across Quality, Engineering, and Product. You manage and develop a multidisciplinary team of QA engineers and analysts while balancing strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership. You partner closely with Engineering, Product, and other cross-functional teams to establish quality standards, improve testing practices, and ensure risks are identified and addressed throughout the software development lifecycle. You guide the adoption of automated testing frameworks, strengthen manual and regression testing coverage, and use quality metrics to improve release confidence, team efficiency, and product outcomes. You foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and shared ownership in which quality is embedded throughout the development process.

This is a highly technical leadership role. While you are not expected to contribute code on a regular basis, you have the technical depth to evaluate automation architectures and frameworks, guide technical decisions, and step into technical problem-solving when needed. You also champion the practical use of AI and emerging technologies to improve how we test software and deliver quality at scale.

What you do each day:

Execute the quality engineering strategy across multiple squads and align testing priorities with product and engineering objectives

Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of QA engineers and analysts

Own and evolve the test automation strategy, architecture, tooling, and standards, driving increased automation maturity, maintainability, coverage, and effectiveness across engineering teams

Drive a measurable reduction in manual regression testing by expanding reliable automation and adopting risk-based testing approaches while maintaining appropriate exploratory and manual testing to ensure comprehensive product coverage

Lead the evolution from a QA-owned testing model toward shared quality ownership across Quality, Engineering, and Product, establishing clear responsibilities and accountability throughout the software development lifecycle

Establish and monitor key performance indicators that measure quality, efficiency, defect trends, and release readiness

Identify testing risks, dependencies, and quality gaps and guide teams toward effective mitigation plans

Improve QA workflows, standards, and operating practices to increase speed, consistency, and product reliability

Manage team capacity, resource planning, and priorities to support annual objectives and evolving business needs

Identify, evaluate, and operationalize AI-assisted approaches that materially improve test creation, maintenance, execution, analysis, defect detection, and overall team effectiveness

Qualifications:

8+ years of experience in QA engineering, software quality, or a related field, including 5+ years of formal or informal people leadership experience

Proven experience defining and scaling test automation strategies, frameworks, tooling, and standards across complex software environments

Strong technical depth with the ability to evaluate automation architectures, frameworks, code quality, CI/CD integrations, and technical tradeoffs without requiring day-to-day hands-on implementation

Advanced expertise in automated testing tools and frameworks (i.e. Selenium, Cypress, JUnit, TestNG)

Deep understanding of QA methodologies, software development lifecycles, defect management, and test planning

Experience with quality management and development tools (i.e. Jira, TestRail) and developing quality metrics that drive measurable operational improvements

Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and influence Engineering and Product teams toward a shared quality ownership model.

Proven experience leading QA teams across multiple disciplines, products, or engineering squads

Proven experience driving team efficiency or output quality through the strategic use of AI tools and automation

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience

Compensation starts at $8900 per month.
