Senior Manager of Product, Imagery
Planet is seeking a Senior Manager of Product for Imagery to lead our portfolio of satellite imagery products that deliver critical insights to commercial and government customers worldwide. This role oversees a team of four Product Managers responsible for Monitoring Imagery (Owl & PlanetScope), High-Resolution Imagery (Pelican & SkySat), Tanager Hyperspectral Imagery, and Mosaics & Analysis-Ready Data Products. As Senior Manager, you will set the strategic direction for Planet's imagery product portfolio, build and develop a high-performing team of Product Managers, drive cross-pillar collaboration, and ensure our products deliver measurable customer value while advancing Planet's mission to image the Earth every day and make change visible, accessible, and actionable. This role reports to the Director of Product, Imagery & Constellation Services.
This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our San Francisco office 3 days per week.
Impact You'll Own:
Define and drive the product strategy for Planet's imagery portfolio across four product lines (Monitoring, High-Res, Tanager, Mosaics/ARD)
Make strategic tradeoff decisions and connect imagery product strategy to Planet's business goals and OKRs
Influence cross-org strategy with Platform, Solutions, and Constellation Services teams
Maintain deep understanding of imagery customer needs, competitive landscape, and market trends
Drive customer discovery and validation practices across the imagery PM team
Lead imagery product planning cycles and partner with Engineering, GTM, TPM, and Space Systems to deliver results
Establish clear success metrics, improve product development processes, and build systems that scale
Manage and develop a team of four Product Managers, including hiring, coaching, and performance management to drive career growth
Proactively ensure team health: diagnose organizational issues and solve complex challenges
Enable team to collect and analyze customer feedback and foster a culture of customer obsession and continuous learning
What You Bring:
6+ years in product management experience with 4+ years managing and developing Product Managers
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Track record of setting product strategy for a multi-product portfolio
Ability to influence product strategy across teams and organizations
Track record of delivering measurable customer and business impact
Effective prioritization skills: can make hard tradeoff decisions with incomplete information
Experience with satellite imagery, remote sensing, or geospatial products
Understanding of how to position and differentiate products in competitive markets
Ability to lead through influence, not just authority
Experience partnering with Engineering, GTM, and other functions to drive outcomes
Effective communication skills: can communicate effectively up, down, and sideways
Track record of developing high-performing Product Managers
Experience hiring, onboarding, and coaching PMs
Commitment to building diverse, inclusive teams and culture

Compensation:
The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is listed below. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location. The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only.
