Senior Manager, Business Development
The Role:
This is an opportunity to take on a role within a rapidly growing global software investor. As Senior Manager, Business Development, you will be responsible for sourcing and managing a pipeline across an entire vertical or large sub-vertical, identifying, researching, and evaluating software companies that align with Banyan’s investment criteria. Reporting to the Director, Corporate Development, you will proactively engage business owners through email, phone, and conferences to build trusted relationships and drive qualified opportunities into the M&A pipeline.
You will collaborate cross-functionally to share insights, refine sourcing strategies, and leverage Banyan’s tools to improve effectiveness. This role requires strong CRM discipline, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of key metrics in Salesforce and other systems, as well as the ability to lead pipeline reviews, identify bottlenecks, and ensure smooth handoffs to M&A. Manage and grow a pipeline of qualified software companies across an assigned vertical or large sub-vertical.
Identify, research, and evaluate attractive software companies based on Banyan’s investment criteria.
Build trusted relationships with software business owners through proactive outreach via email, phone, and conferences, driving daily engagement and nurturing programs.
Collaborate cross-functionally across the Banyan team to share insights, refine sourcing strategies, and contribute innovative ideas that support our vision of building a world-class sourcing organization.
Lead pipeline reviews, identifying bottlenecks and ensuring smooth handoffs to the M&A team.
Leverage Banyan’s software tools and resources to continually increase your effectiveness and efficiency.
Build and execute a data-driven business development strategy for your vertical that drives measurable pipeline growth.
Independently manage founder meetings, conferences, and tradeshows, serving as a trusted ambassador of Banyan’s values and long-term partnership philosophy.
Track activity and maintain clear records in Salesforce, reporting regularly on KPIs and key performance metrics.
Qualifications for success:

Experience in deal sourcing or origination - for example in a private equity firm, investment fund, software acquirer, or a comparable sales or business development role - with a track record of building and growing relationships and a pipeline with founder-led businesses.
Curious about SaaS software and business with a passion for lifelong learning and understanding new industries.
Thrives in a metrics-driven environment, leverages data to make informed decisions, and consistently meets or exceeds agreed-upon KPIs.
Strong written communication and the ability to build genuine, two-way conversations with business owners and internal stakeholders.

A degree in Finance, Business, or a related field and/or significant experience in software sales or M&A.
Demonstrated ability to independently source and advance opportunities that progress to due diligence or close, with strategic judgment to translate learnings into improved outreach and market coverage.
