Senior Machinist
About the role
Muon seeks a Machinist ( Senior ) to join our Team. You'll own the machined parts the engineering teams depend on for testing and flight— embedded between engineering and the machine shop. Design reviews on Tuesday, dialing in fixturing on Wednesday, owning first-article inspection on Friday. The named point of contact for components as it moves from CAD to finished parts
This position is fully on-site at our San Jose office, five days per week.
Responsibilities
Program and operate CNC mills and lathes for flight components
Sit in testing and tooling design reviews to flag manufacturability and tolerance issues early
develop fixturing, tooling, and processes to produce tooling faster and more efficiently.
Own first-article and in-process QC for hardware
Document via MES; write non-conformance tickets; maintain traceability
Train shop team and engineers on tooling and component-specific machining processes.
Qualifications
5+ years machining for aerospace, medical, or other high-precision industries
Programming 3- and 5-axis CNC mills; CAM (Fusion 360, MasterCAM, or similar)
Haas controller experience & Fanuc
Strong metrology fundamentals; comfortable with inspection tools
Comfortable with brittle materials (graphite, composites, ceramics)
U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or protected individual (ITAR)
Able to achieve security level clearance if needed
Nice-to-have Skills
Matsuura, Yasda, and Haas experience
CMM programming
Tooling, Test lab & class 7+ Cleanroom experience
Exotic alloys, Graphite or brittle-material machining experience
Salary
The salary range for this role is $58 - $65 per hour, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.
