Senior Integration Architect
Mark43’s mission is to empower communities and their governments with new technologies that improve the safety and quality of life for all. We build powerful, scalable, and elegant software that sets a new standard for the tools upon which our first responders rely. Our users are diverse, and we are therefore committed to embracing diversity of thought and experience within our team.
We are seeking a Senior Integration Architect to design and deliver integrations for our UK customers. Mark43 works with a growing number of UK police forces, and this role is responsible for the integrations that connect Mark43 to their systems and to national policing and criminal justice services. You will manage UK interface projects from scoping through go-live and ongoing support, provide technical oversight of the partner and contractor teams who build integrations on our behalf, and ensure that their work meets Mark43’s standards. You will work closely with police forces, their suppliers and national system owners, as well as with Mark43’s UK delivery, engineering and customer success teams. This role reports to the Director of Integrations Architecture.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
Conduct scoping sessions with police forces to confirm which systems will connect to Mark43, how data will flow between them, and the effort required to deliver each integration.
Prepare interface specifications and review them with forces and their suppliers through to formal sign-off before development begins.
Review delivery partners’ integration designs, data mappings and test results, and approve their work before it is released to the customer.
Coordinate onboarding, licensing and testing with the owners of national policing and criminal justice systems.
Test integrations using force data within the UK, and work with forces to resolve mapping issues before user acceptance testing.
Investigate integration issues in test and production environments using logs, monitoring tools and data queries, and work with engineering and support teams to resolve them.
Work with force IT and network teams and Mark43’s cloud engineers to establish secure connectivity for integrations, both on-premise and in the cloud.
Track the status of UK interface projects and report progress, risks and required actions to internal and customer stakeholders.
Support contract and tender reviews by assessing integration requirements and confirming that they can be delivered.
What You’ll Need
We are seeking a candidate with 8+ years of experience designing and delivering system integrations, preferably for UK policing, criminal justice or other public sector organisations. You should be able to manage multiple integration projects concurrently, work directly with customers and their suppliers, and oversee the work of partner and contractor teams. The role also requires strong technical skills, including the ability to interpret API specifications, build and validate data mappings, analyse logs, and query data to diagnose issues. This is not a software development role, but you should be comfortable using Kubernetes and CI/CD tools to deploy integrations, check their status and investigate failures.
This role involves access to police data that must remain in the UK. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK and be able to obtain and maintain Non-Police Personnel Vetting Level 3 (NPPV3). Candidates who already hold NPPV3 will be preferred.
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate the following qualities:
Driven. You take the initiative to keep projects moving and resolve blockers without waiting for direction.
Highly organised. You manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritise work effectively as deadlines and customer needs change.
Accountable. You take ownership of project outcomes, including work delivered by partners and contractors.
Composed under pressure. You respond to critical interface issues methodically and keep customers informed throughout.
Strong communicator. You explain technical trade-offs clearly to both force project boards and engineering teams.
Sound judgement. You make well-reasoned decisions when requirements are incomplete or still evolving.

What We Value
Humility. You know the best ideas win, no matter where they come from. You ask questions before making assumptions and you're as happy being wrong as being right, because either way, the team gets to a better answer.
Inclusivity. You respect expertise in all its forms and actively seek out perspectives different from your own. You make space for others and assume good intent.
Excellence. You care about quality in your code, your reviews, and how you communicate. You're not satisfied with "it works" when it could be better, and you encourage the same standard in those around you.
Diligence. You take ownership, mind the details, and understand that the software we build is used in moments that genuinely matter. You don't cut corners when people are depending on the outcome.
Location
